No relax, I am not going anywhere, I am just enquiring if you popped along to your newsagent and pick up your last copy of a 'British icon'?

No. I haven't read it for years.
AOG ...

I'd be more upset if it was you leaving.

I don't think I'll bother buying the NOTW.
Definitely not, not that I've bought one for many years. Shame shops didn't boycott the sale.
No I didn't, good riddance IMO.
Actually I don't read any news papers these days if I do buy one it's only for the crossword.
No I haven't read the News of the World.....EVER.

It is an icon, 168 years of journalism, the best selling English language paper in the world........yes..............it is a sad moment, particularly for the work force.

I am certain that there will be other papers tarnished with the same brush.

Give the public what they want.....and they did.

A sad moment.
I didn't realise that it was a small paper, I always remember it as a big one!
How long before we see the Sunday Sun ... or whatever ... with the

... same staff

... same premises

... same reporters

... same Editor

... same owners

... etc

but able to say ... "Phone hacking? Nothing to do with THIS paper, mate!"
Spot on Jogger Jayne !!
JJ...it doen't really matter.

if the NOTW had kept producing, there would have been a slight slump in sales for about 5 months and then it's circulation would bee back to normal by Christmas.
The Dirty Digger has bigger fish to fry. The NOTW is only a prawn in a much bigger game.
slight slump in sales, perhaps - but no advertising.
I agree jogger but it won't be named The Sunday Sun because there is a well established Sunday Sun up here in the North East and they are going to heavily protect their Name.
JJ. Do you really believe that the NOTW is the ONLY paper that has hacked into people's phones.
It's the only one to be caught at it. So far.
no ... i didnt read it before so am not interested in its last issue
ps....glad ur not going anywhere x
I won't be bothering either...

But as others have said, this isn't the end of the NOTW as such, it will just be a re-branding of it.

Should have took the trouble, they are up for sale on Ebay for as much as £8, that is just in the first day.
as you can buy it for the cover price at the newsagents, I don't see why anyone would pay £8, unless they are in one of the Colonies and feeling homesick. They will have printed millions of them.
AOG, I am very pleased you are not going anywhere too :-)
Chrissa is right, we have a paper here called the Sunday Sun so that name won't be used.
Rebekah Brooks and Rupert Murdoch have behaved in a very dishonorable way, it is always sad to see people losing their jobs but even worse when its on the backs of people like these two, I would not be surprised at all if a lot of evidence has now been destroyed before the closure of the N.O.T.W
and I feel deeply sorry for the families of the people that have had their phones hacked, despicable journalism of gutter level proportions
