At least 80 children are believed to have been shot, and 7 killed and many injurred in the bomb attack in Oslo. Initial reports are that the suspect captured has no connection to al qaeda but is from an extreme ring wing organisation in Norway.

Should we now take the threat from extreme rightists in our own country more seriously?

The FaceBook account of the 32 year old man arrested indicate he was a Neo-Nazi, according to reports.
Awful x
i posted this yesterday, but at the time there were no links to who was responsible, Neo Nazis, heaven almighty isn't the world in enough of a mess without these people. What do they hope to gain.
Just had a chap, who was on the island, on the BBC news who said the killer was dressed as a Nazi.
A shocking thing to happen in a peaceful country..There is evil everywhere.

A vicious and savage attack, no matter who is responsible.

But Gromit has emotionally posted a few untruths.

First they don't know yet if he committed the bombings, it is reported that

/// Last night ‘Helpers of the Global Jihad’ posted a message on the internet claiming the bombing was ‘only the beginning’ of the retaliation over the cartoons.///

Gromit then said "at least 80 children had been shot" they were not children but youths attending a political summer camp.

There is no reports that I read that said he was a 'Neo-Nazi'.

And just because one disarranged nutter who has far-right leanings, doesn't mean that there is a threat from 'extreme rightists' in our own country.

mightyWBA states /// just had a chap, who was on the island, on the BBC news who said the killer was dressed as a Nazi.///

Since all the reports state that he was dressed as a policeman, would that then be a 'Nazi Policeman'?
totally shocking.... i couldnt finish reading the links as i felt sick.... this bit especially .... 'Survivors from the shooting described how many people had laid down on the ground and pretended to be dead after the shooting began, but the gunman began systematically shooting those on the ground through the head' what a pure evil f**ker

aog does it bloody well matter whether he was dressed as a nazi, dressed as a police or dressed as mr frigging blobby?
*policeman
I agree with you safiya

Btw - nice to see you back as Gromit, Gromit!
a truly shocking thing to happen in a country that has had no links to extremism , my heart goes out to those involved
This is awful and to pick innocent children makes it even worse. I hope he gets hung drawn and quartered very slowly. (I am not usually bloodthirsty but this is extreme).
Safiya

No of course it doesn't but some criticise a certain newspaper for sensationalising matters.

So isn't it also sensationalising to state he was dressed as a Nazi, and that they were children when they were in fact youths.

Not as these two details actually matter in such a horrible case, but it is false reports such as this that encourages hysteria.
Youths are still children, on the brink of life and for this evil man to have snuffed out their flame is appalling. You cannot sensationalize 80 deaths - it is already too terrible for words to express.
mightyWBA didnt criticise anyone, he merely stated what it said on the news.... and from what i read in the link they had spoken to a 15 year old girl...imo that is a child.

i found this comment from you very interesting

*And just because one disarranged nutter who has far-right leanings, doesn't mean that there is a threat from 'extreme rightists' in our own country. *

shame you dont apply that reasoning to other extremists.......
Right wing and left wing has traditionally distinguished between predominantly private enterprise and ownership on the one hand and social rule and ownership on the other hand. Voting conservative doesn't mean people support terrorism. It is quite wrong to extend and distort 'right wing' in describing the Norway situation. The problem as I see it is one of sheer hatred.
Safiya the item of clothing this killer was wearing is important. He used the police uniform to attract the young people to him before opening fire.
These young people felt safe when they saw his uniform.

// Survivors of Friday’s terror on Utøya told gripping tales of how campers approached suspected gunman Anders Behring Breivik, thinking he came from the police as a safety measure after the bombing in the Oslo, only to experience that he shot them in cold blood. One young man told newspaper VG that he saw a girl shot in the head. Others ran for their lives, seeking refuge behind rocks or trees as the gunman continued his shooting spree around the small island in the Tyri Fjord. //
unbelieveably sickening.
yeah i do understand that dodge... i was saying w t f did it matter what he was wearing in response to aogs attempted sarkiness to WBA
Here in Denmark we are getting wall to wall coverage of the tragedy in Norway. Both the bombing and shooting seem to be related to a right wing "Christian" movement against the Moslemisation of Norway. The gun man was dressed as a policeman and is definitely a part of that right wing movement. At the moment there are 91 deaths and 25 seriously wounded in the hospitals.
