As usual someone dares to post their opinions on AB and if they don't fit in with some ABer's agenda, then the insults fly and diversionary tactics are put into force.
Take apart one's opinions by all means but please substitute them with a genuine constructive opposing argument.
I myself don't agree with all of youngmafbog's points, but surely some good points have been raised.
1) the Government should take stronger action, and not be afraid of upsetting certain groups in the process, if that is what is needed.
2) There should be an independent panel of judges to override any unduly lenient sentence, and be able to override any unjust European Human Rights legislation.
3) Improve the standard of police recruits, they need brawn & height, rather than a university degrees, a policeman should look the part as they did years ago, maybe they would then be figures of respect instead of figures of fun, which some of them have now become, ex service personal would be better suited for the job.
4) We now come to the question of arming the police, some have come up with the usual argument that if we do the criminal will also 'tool' up, well pardon me are not the criminals already 'tooled up'? Does one think that the criminals actually say "better not get a gun" because let's be fair 'the rossers' haven't got them? Again the ex 'squaddy' would have more experience of fire-arms.
5) Yes in situations such as the weekends riots, we should introduce the 'water cannon' 'rubber bullets' and even consider operating a curfew in certain areas.
6) during WW2 looters could be shot on sight.
7) Since New York introduced 'zero tolerance' it is a safer city to be in than London.
