In todays Telegraph a Somali family none of whom speak English or work left their semi in Coventry where they had been for 3 years and went to Labour Camden who put them in a £2 million house costing £2000 a week rent using the Labour Housing Act which requires the Camden taxpayers to pick up the tab. This was all arranged just before the Tory April budget which has now capped any rent at a max of £400.
Labour Camden did this knowing full well, it was well advertised, that the budget was going to clamp down on such abuse.
. So everybody is happy, the landlord is happy, the left wingers are happy , the Somalis are happy and Gromits brigade are happy.
Pity about the taxpayers . Maybe that's one of the reasons they rioted .
Oh yes there are all those others on Camdens housing waiting list they are not too happy either.

Modeller if you want info look up Camden New Journal, a local paper, you can see stories like this quite often. The council have been selling off a lot of their housing stock, which doesn't bode well for those trying to find someplace to live. SR is quite right, but it's a bloody stupid system.
This is the same council who are getting rid of the annexe to the Town Hall, because the argument seems to be its uneconomical to keep it going, and problems with the lifts breaking down. But instead of getting on with things in these harsh economic times, they seem determined to press ahead with plans to build a 100 million pound new town hall just across the way. While cutting out services all down the line, humbug.

chrissa Have you tried asking Gromit ? If you can find him ? Otherwise there's jake or Dr Filth or how about Bill Crow he's got a nice subsidised council house. How did he manage that on a £125k salary ?
I think SandyRoe is your best bet she's got a kind heart . Otherwise have you thought of moving to Camden ?
don't you mean Bob Crow?
Question Author
Yes ! I knew it was something to do with the police . Bobby or Old Bill
Can someone tell me how Bob Crowe gets his subsidised Council House on that salary please?
It beggars belief that these people can get away with this. Who is in charge of these idiots giving away their housing stock? No wonder we are overflowing with immigrants.

chrissa 1 In the same way as Arthur Scargill and his deputy were able to buy houses using the unions money . When it was discovered he supposedly
agreed to pay it back saying it was only a loan. I understand the NUT is now. suing him. So the answer is chrissa 1 the gullible union members and a Labour council. They swallow the left wing claptrap similar we see on AB. You notice how they have kept their heads down on this post .
Brilliant link, modeller.
Gromit isn't going to show his face on this one - he can't pin it on the Tories or the bankers...

You never know, though, he could have a crack at the £400 ceiling idea, forcing poor unemployed Somalis to lower their living standards, or even move again to a lower class area!
not to throw this off kilter modeller, but if the family live in Kensington, as seems to suggest, that's not in Camden. I had seen this report some time back, and did look at the link.
Modeller, two separate families, if you look at the names, and the areas they have moved to. Bonkers system anyways.
This does seem like madness, and rightly makes a lot of people cross. I am still unsure whether it can be attributed as a Labour Cock up or not. As has already been posted, the same thing happened in Kensington and Chelsea, and no one rushed then to blame a Conservative Cock up.

Also, It is also unclear when the family made this move. Camden Council was under no overall control until May 2010. And the only date we have for this family moving was that it was before April this year. They could have moved 6 months before April, or they could have moved 12 months before. Anyone know?

em10 This one as reported this week is Camden and the house is in West Hampstead.
Hello Gromit nice to have you back , rather a muted response though but you did your best to keep te red flag flying.
Sorry, busy work wise this week so I won't be around much. To my great annoyance, I voted in the Coalition at the election. In fact, I haven't voted Labour since 1982.
"Jumping to conclusions", Gromit, is the main exercise right-wingers take.
Modeller the one i read about previously was the large family that moved to a 2 million pound mansion in Kensington. Perhaps someone should have a look around camden at the property prices, some would make your eyes bleed.

Ah well thats life, you didn't vote for Blair and I to my shame did.
I thought at the time he would turn the Labour Party around, when all he did was give it a New name and set the country up as a giant gravy train .
Benefits instead of jobs . No wonder people rioted when they realised the gravy train was over.
Modeller, sacre bleu, you voted for him, why?

Does it really matter when this sad state of affairs took place it happened?

In answer to how he did it.

/// The council said it had a responsibility to meet the needs of claimants who were eligible for benefits and was powerless to stop people moving into private accommodation in the area.///
