I'm surprised that Mr Frost had to look it up. I would've thought that most people know this phrase? The report doesn't state what term he used for the white rioters in Manchester.

so its ok to be racist as long as you are directing your insults to anyone deserving of them

ahhhhh at long last i understand
erm who decides who is deserving or not?
Eddie I have no idea how a racist phrase from the south us in the 1960's has became mixed up with a large vibrator?

No I just read more into it, rather than make the first 'hysterical follow the sheep calls of racialism', that came into my head.

My points were made with no thoughts of offending anyone, and I take exception to being called a racist.

I should be allowed to offer up for debate my own particular slant on things, without the need of offensive terms being used against me personally, just as every other ABers should be allowed to.

Disagree all you like, but offer up an argument against if you must, but without the insults.

aog "Your analogy just does not work on two counts. Simply because of the fact that much as some would wish it to be, reading the Daily Mail is not a crime. Neither are they right wing fascist apologists."

so it is ok for me to call daily mail readers right wing fascist apologists then.
Oh dear.

He simply doesn't get it!

I never said you said all the rioters were black AOG. But Mr Frost in using the words jungle-bunnies inferred they were and used it as a rascist comment, then inferring in my opinion that they were all black. He knew bloody well what jungle-bunnies meant!!
Sorry for repeating myself!!
/// so it is ok for me to call daily mail readers right wing fascist apologists then. ///

Only if it is disgustingly criminal to read the Daily Mail, otherwise It is being offensive to Daily Mail readers, just as it is offensive to use the 'jungle words' to innocent blacks.

One can call a right wing or even a left wing fascist apologists, by all means if that person is also a criminal, which then has nothing to do with the newspaper they care to read.

This is the last time I am going to bother trying to explain to you or anyone else, if you cannot see it then that is not my problem I'm afraid.
anotherold git you still banging on that same old drum thank goodness that was your last comment ( however I suspect you are the type of man who like the last word and will write a reply even if its facile)

Leaving semantics aside...let's get real - Mr Frost's excuse for using that term is so brilliantly bad, I almost want to hug him and say "For God's sake - is that the best you could do?"

I mean - 'urban jungle' and 'bunnies' being 'nice animals'.

Outstanding.

For my mind - completely racist. Why? Because the rioters in a number of areas were overwhelmingly (but not exclusively) black. Therefore, you could use the term theiving scum, thugs, yoga etc...but using a racist epithet is just insane.

I would have had more respect for him, had he said - "In the heat of the moment, my anger got the better of me, and this is what I feel about these black people"

More respect, but not a LOT of respect.

Just another thought - has he made any comments with regards to the white rioters in Manchester?

Does anyone know if he used racist terms to describe them?

I would bet a month's wages he didn't.

'yoga' should have been 'yobs'.

Damn iPads and their weird spellchecker.
it is, haven't heard that for years, and confess never thought to again, bizarre.

To my mind his offence is not so much using a clearly racialist term of abuse, but that an elected councillor has nothing better to do with his time than prate on such a juvenile site as Facebook. For that alone he deserves to be removed from office.
My friend, Jenny is black and had buck teeth when we were at school together. She used to get called *** and it was, rightly, upsetting to her. She was and still is a lovely person.
His explanation reminds me of the Little Britain sketches where David Walliams would be a politician giving some ludicrous explanation about how he came to be found naked on Hampstead Heath ..
'I was taking an evening stroll when I noticed a young man having trouble with his trousers. Seeking to be of assistance I offered to pull the zip up with my teeth' etc etc.

What an idiot.
