/// Parents, teachers, community leaders and police officers are referring children and young adults who they feel may be at risk of being radicalised by groups such as the EDL and Combat 18.///
Is this Britain in the 21st century or Nazi Germany in the 1930s?
One nutter murders 76 people in Norway and it seems the EDL could be to blame.
Is this simply a measure to appease the Muslims, so they don't singly feel alienated as regards termism acts?
Will they also similarly be targeting Left-Wing groups?

Anders Breivik is a madman, with very skewed ideas of national identity. This is not Nazi Germany, if the police, and other organisations are concerned over individuals being radicalised, then so be it, this applies to all people, not just from the named organisations.
It is possible to believe that immigration needs to be restricted (not prohibited) and be against extreme religious fanatics (of any creed or colour) without looking like or supporting these people:

///It's your use of the term "the Muslims" (rather than simply "muslims") ///
Crikey, I didn't realise that 'THE' was now a no-no word, things are worse that I first thought.
VHG did indeed beat me to it when he referred to Stalin, yes a very good example, also one lone madman in a foreign country doesn't make the protest group EDL, into mass murderers or even terrorists.
Incidentally although you may also not like it the word "muslims" begins with a capital 'M'

Until the governments of Europe actually listen to their citizens this kind of thing is going to spiral out of control. There are probably thousands of people all over this continent with the same sense of failure from their governments as the Norweigan nutter. After reading Breivik's manifesto, I notice his concerns are echoed all over the UK. Especially by the 'I'm not racist, but...' brigade. Organisations like Combat 18 don't need to radicalise people. The actions of idiots like Blair and The Sun sensationalising stories and inciting their readers have done that job already.
Well, Mr G - as I have little more than contempt for most organised religeon, I spell them all with lower case 1st letters - eg christianity.
Don't be a silly old fart - of course "the" isn't a no no word, it's just the way you use it; "the Muslims" sounds a bit too much like "the lurgy" or something.
"...doesn't make the protest group EDL, into mass murderers or even terrorists" that's as maybe, but you wouldn't want to bring them home to meet your old Mum would you ? well, maybe *you* would - but I wouldn't.
