I think ALL new cars should be fitted with a tracker device BY LAW.

It may add to the cost of a new car, but would cut thefts dramatically and hence cost less for us all over time.

was it the vehicle they were after or maybe what's inside, like drugs. Some might see ambulance, or something similar and instantly put two and two together and make ten.

All valid points where car theft is concerned, but this was an ambulance used for dealing with desperately sick children in remote areas. I know the area it operates in quite well and in the winter even it might struggle in some places. And now it's been destroyed. But at least they've captured somebody. Let's hope it's the right guy.
