/// 'The movement aims to unite the United Kingdom’s far-flung activist communities ///
Isn't that a miss-print, should it not read, "'The movement aims to unite the United Kingdom’s Far-Left activist communities?
Another outing for the 'Lefties' it seems, I wonder if the police will come down on them as they do on 'Right Wing' outings?
Why can't the Home Secretary ban this, like she did the last EDL march?

I would ban all marches, no matter the faction, because this is just the sort of problem allied with all the others, the capital doesn't need.
DTD, peaceful maybe, but it screws up every part of the capital, once the police block off one road, then another to let demo go through, then the traffic will just back up till gridlock. I have lost count of the times been caught up in it, and you can't just not go to one particular bit, because once gridlocked that's the end of the story. It's not a one off, but a regular occurence, and not limited to British citizens getting in their two pence worth, but anyone with a grievance about their government, which has absolutely nothing to do with Britain. If they did this in New York the riot police would be out.
In the USA just 1% of the population now possess 25% of the wealth. Yet 50 million people can't even get healthcare. That's the largest poverty gap since the 1920s. The same is happening in the UK. Tony Blair said while he was PM that this generation of schoolchildren are in danger of being what he termed "a lost generation". He said most will never have continual careers, many will never work, most will never drive and most will never own their own homes. That speech seems to have been conveniently forgotten.
We now have the same wealth gap opening in the UK where a small minority of the population have more and more wealth while the average person and their children have less and less. The same is happening in Europe, China, the Middle East etc.
These global protests have that single underlying factor. The wealthy are getting richer and the average person (not just those at the bottom but those average people who term themselves 'Middle Class') and their children are getting poorer every year. All the signs are that the situation will continue. The prospects for recovery are very limited indeed due to globalisation and the economic rise of China.
I'm not one for taking to the streets and I don't particularly support these protesters. Nor do I have any children or grandchildren to worry about. However, I can see what these protests are about and why these people are so now worried for the futures of their children.

Clearly Winnie wasn't a fan of Redistribution of Wealth policies.
Certainly, in tough times the Rich get richer and the Middle and the Poor get poorer. Arguably the Middle notice the difference more.
The only way for the Poor to get richer other than personal achievement is for the economy to grow. The issue currently is whether that is a realistic objective.
