I have to repeat once again, when are our politicians going to stop pussy footing about and take constructive and severely strict measures to stamp out this ever increasing gang culture amongst some of our young?

Look at these young faces, they are so hard looking what causes this? They have all there lives in front of them and they have to ruin it, why?

Good the judge decided to allow for these young thugs to be identified, why cannot it be the norm in all young criminal's cases?

Be interested to know what ABers might suggest would be an answers to the problem, without the usual "Bring back National service" because we all know that is never going to happen, more to the pity.

Bringing back parental responsibility might be a good place to start - my parents would never have let me or my brother roam the streets, let along get away with this sort of behaviour.

I did not know it have ever gone away.

The problem is if the parents are also in trouble with the police (maybe one or both of them are already in prison for example) who does the "child" learn from.

This case highlights what is a total breakdown in society in some geographic areas.

No respect for police or society (in fact no respect for anyone), a feeling that "might is right", a feeling of "take what you can when you can" (as highlighted by the recent rioting).

We have allowed low level crime, and a drink and drunk culture, to get out of hand for far too long.

Prison was once a place people were scared of, now if they do 6 months they consider it worth it for the money they may make from the crimes.

Some people are no longer ashamed of going to prison but proud of it, it is a sort of badge of honour.

But what role models do they have?

Greedy bankers, corrupt politicians and so on.

Sometimes society just get corrupt from top to bottom, and we have almost reached that stage.

Part of the long slow decline of this country.

Yes you may have a point there.

But since children seem to mature earlier these days perhaps we should bring the age limit down, when they could be taken away from their home environment for a few years of strict discipline and training, before passing-out to take up their positions in society as responsible adults.

This of course was the responsibility of their parents in days long passed.

Well as in all decisions in sentencing, that obviously would be up to the decision of the Judge.

There is too much to take into consideration. In many cases the blame lies with the parents. In many cases you'd be flogging a dead horse.

There are many unpleasant jobs that have to be done, but thankfully there are always plenty of people prepared to do them.

I have said it before, but it bears repeating.

The government must lose its obsession that every young person wants to go to university - or is indeed suited to do so - and put some serious money into nursery education. Teaching children respect and values will give us mature and responsible adults, and within two or three generations, matters will have improved.


But, like National Service, this will never happen.

Plus is there any actual evidence that Sodom and Gomorrah existed? I've certainly never heard of any, but I don't actually know.
