French and Germans are of the same race... (well, most of the time anyway. But I think the fact that you can hypothetically have a black Frenchman or German indicates much the same point that nationality is a separate thing). Anti-French/German comments or whatever are surely against their nation rather than race.

Brenden, the attack on NYC (in which Britons were not the target, even if many died) prompted the war on Afghanistan; but the war on Iraq was a separate affair - nothing to do with Afghanistan, the Taliban or al-Qaeda. And it's the Iraq war that has prompted the belief among Muslims that Britain and the USA are out to get Muslims.

I will answer your particular question after you condemn the action of these muslim bigots and agree that they should have been arrested and charged with a hate crime just as any white british person would have been had the situation been reversed.

Black people live in the houses adjoining mine. On one side lives a man with two children who I believe comes from the Congo. He and his children stay in the house and never come out except to go to school and shopping. I do not even know what his surname is. I tried being friendly but all I get is a wave of the hand and a hello which I suppose is better than nothing. I have seen the girl twice, once getting into the car to go to school and once going to the bin. I know their given names because I asked the boy. On the other side is a lovely black man who comes in three or four times a week, to have a chat and a cup of tea. He lends me his newspaper every day and allows me to do the crossword in it. He takes me to the dentist and the doctor. He is a very kind and nice man. I am trying to illustrate the fact that we are all different and the colour of our skins does not matter. It is a great pity that people cannot live with each other without discord.

starbuckone, this matter isn't about colour, but religious and cultural differences. What those men said should have seen them arrested. They won't be, because as some, not all i agree, see that there is a two tier system operating in Britain, things that can be said to non Muslims, and things that cannot be said to any Muslim, without fear of reprisals. Not knowing your neighbour is quite common, we only know ours because of a shared problem, but we didn't meet them until fairly recently.
