FIFA bans Poppies on footballl shirts

Not sure how this is any different than a team wearing black armbands or having a minutes silence before a match. Would it be disrespectful to England's guests to just ignore FIFA and pay any fine that might be imposed?

There's nothing wrong with being a pacifist or an idealist Jake, but when it's coupled with a smug sanctimonious contempt for anyone who's ideals don't match yours, it becomes a bit tedious.

The notion that anyone who buys or wears a poppy is somehow saying 'I like war' is juvenile.

..and by the way - I still think wearing a poppy on the Football kit is daft, which was my original answer.

As many have pointed out, IF the footballers want to wear one, they can buy one and put it on their jumper like anyone else.
