Frances Lockhart, prosecuting, told magistrates in Croydon, South London, she opposed bail. She said: “There are grounds for believing that Miss West is not safe.”
David Ewings, defending, said West would be in just as much danger in prison.
But chief magistrate Gerald Ellis refused to release West. He said: “We hear a number of death threats have been made.”

AOG - in honesty, I think they are absolutely comparable and the words of this woman are only making the words of Abu Hamza and his like even stronger. Both are intent on creating a divide, furthering and social disharmony and thus pushing both sides towards more extremist views.
They pose the same threat and, in effect, support each others causes.

Oh, come off it, that's a little 'over the top' don't you think?
You will be saying she will be 'scarred for life' next.
Racist words, insulting words, obscene words, call them what you like, but they are just words.
Now racist assault, racial discrimination, that is entirely a different matter, and I would defend anyone from this no matter what their colour or ethnic origins.
I am no racist, but what I firmly object to, is that certain members of the community are protected by law from being 'Verbally' insulted, when others are not.

Yes i'm sure it was just a little jovial banter and everyone should understand or get out?
Are you an expert in psychology and could you say that everyone after that tram ride just laughed it off or forgot about it?
I can assure you many will carry those womans words amongst others with them for a long time.

'Death threats', Footballers being questioned under caution, other celebrities losing their jobs, etc, etc. this whole matter of name calling is getting out of hand.
These antique laws that where hastily put together when there was a real racist problem, (that being during the early years of mass immigration), should now be reviewed, because this 'name calling' law (if most people were honest) does more to alienate the races than bring them together.

Bednobs, a good mother protects teaches and talks well in front of a growing child.
This woman swore and used racist comments in an abusive aggressive fashion. The aggression etc.. will be picked up by the child.
The woman was nearly beaten and attacked by an angry mob, this would not have been healthy and the kid would've been injured in the fracas.
All of her parenting skills were put to the test and she failed miserably.
