Is this a step too far in the quest for equal opportunities?

/// There were concerns that higher levels of carbon dioxide in the on-board atmosphere pose particular risks to female health ///

/// The Navy argued in the past that they could be pregnant when they go to sea, putting them and their unborn child in grave danger in case of complications such as an ectopic pregnancy, or forcing a commander to return home and abandon a secret mission. ///

Surely a pregnant woman can also suffer complications, without the now unsupported risk of the high levels of carbon dioxide, what then?

There is also the problem of separating male and female privacy facilities in the cramped conditions of a submarine.

BTW

I don't consider using the proper words when communicating to be <<the correct terminology>>

It's called using proper English

And a <sine> is a mathematical term.
And is 'anothe' even a word???

Is he not ' Ano, the old git'.....??? :o)

I believe the explanation was something about a restriction on characters (at the time) forcing a compromise on the spelling of <another>

Which rather strengthens the case that <anothe> is just a qualification of the main part of the user name <old git>
It seems a bit daft using 'old git' in your user name if you object to people calling you that.

Would Mr Old Git have been acceptable? Or preferred?
Ohhhhhhh......you'll make him angry!!

lol
To return to the point, sex is always going to raise its ugly head where men and women are closely confined together, and a submarine would be an extreme case.

Perhaps a 100% female crew would be a solution - but who would park the sub?

<]:-))

Nice one, 2shortplanks - I'm waiting for some lady to torpedo me...
They'll be allowed to hold hands if they get frikened.
I would think the level of Carbon Dioxide would increase due to the heavy breathing.
The Germans have been using female sub marineers for several years according to a video are I saw a year ago.
i assume ALL personnel are 'subjected to the indigity' of a medical examination before boarding...so the whats the difference?

id assume most females, upon discovering theyre pregnant, would not want to go aboard anyway!
Joko when a submarine can be 6 months at sea there would be some awkward faces if she became pregnant during the voyage.

/// But isn't old git part of your chosen user name? ///

Yes but so is P*ki part of Pakistani, and both are offensive.

Since you class yourself as the AnswerBank's very own English teacher, perhaps you would also consider correcting yourself?

/// accepting t&c's that are extra-ordinary. ///

Accepting terms and conditions that are extraordinary.

/// They can check in the Physical all submariners will have where they check levels in blood and urine anyway ///

They can check out the physical condition of all submariners, when they check their blood and urine samples, anyway.

That's the best interpretation that I can make anyway, from your rather confusing set of words.
