Yobs with no respect for anyone or anything are walking free on the streets, while decent citizens risk having their lives disrupted by silly charges.
The police say one thing and do another -
Speaking at New Scotland Yard, Sir Paul Stephenson, Metropolitan Police Commissioner, said:
How do we at the sharp end, the cops, the CPS, put people out of their misery of worrying about these things?
"Our first response should not be to discourage people from doing it. It should be to applaud their bravery and courage.
"Our first response should be to express gratitude that we have got citizens who would do that thing."

Completely agree with lcg76's post, it is no wonder that britain is going down the tubes, all thanks to liberal thinkers and their 'let them do as they like' attitude.
There is a complete breakdown in discipline, starting from 'couldn't care less' parents, followed by disciplinary restrictions in schools, this all matures to some growing up to have no respect for law and order.
On AB one has only to note some of the negative remarks made about the police when they have the unenviable job to try and instil law and order.
I am sure some would just like to do as they please, and 'cock a snoot' at any form of restrictions on what they can or cannot do.

<<the big man who got the student off the train recently has been charged with assault>>
Good. His use of force was inappropriate and bullying.
The law should prevail over vigilantism and young people who aren't offering violence (even if they are being obnoxious in the way they try to stand up for themselves) should be protected from large bullies who are older than them and should know better than to think they have the right to butt in on business that was between the rail company's agent and another passenger.

The main problem is that the rail company have employed a useless idiot who is too old to do his job properly. The student didn't have no ticket or a single ticket. He had the wrong half of a two part ticket. If he had one half, he must have purchased it. He should have applied some common sense and accepted the mistake. he then accepts the assistance of a thug on the train and the student is assaulted. The train company should be sued and a large compensation payment should be sought.
It may be the fault of the conductor, why stop everyone getting home because one person does not have the correct ticket? The conductor could have rung ahead and had the student arrested, if he believed he had not paid for a ticket, the Transport Police should have been involved as early as possible.
"even if they are being obnoxious in the way they try to stand up for themselves"
Surely that's reason enough to be thrown off? Even if you've done nothing wrong, rail staff have a right not to be abused and the old man plainly couldn't have done it himself.
Also, could you clarify how you know that the student's ticket was the wrong part of a return? In the video, the ticket inspector says it's a single.

you keep talking about people rushing to the aid of strangers - or rather not doing - but that is not what happened here at all!
the inspector was in NO DANGER!
he was not being 'saved' or protected or helped by the 'big man'.
he was not being attacked or threatened by the student.
there was just some youth who believed he had a valid ticket, arguing because the jobsworth couldnt accept that fact and was trying to kick him off unfairly - i would have argued too!
still no footage of the student actually threatening this man i see ...??
