the big man who got the student off the train recently has been charged with assault. What do reckon, right or not.

so Mr Main found it amusing enough to post it on facebook, if he was so angry and injured why didn't he go straight to the police. If he had thought about it, he wouldn't have been mouthy to the ticket inspector in the first place. I don't see the ticket inspector as being a jobsworth, i see him doing his job.

Just to add, two youths stabbed a conductor several days ago, whilst this is obviously not connected, perhaps they were mouthy and had no tickets, so he rightly objected, and got stabbed for his pains. From what i can gather he wasn't badly hurt, but this scenario is the tip of the iceberg.

"what if the student had been black, can see that situation not happening at all, seeing as how that would be construed as as racist incident. Perhaps the ticket inspector didn't have a radio to call ahead, not all of them do."

Let's stop doing the "what ifs" hypotheticals serve no purpose.

Regarding the inspector's ability to summon the police. Are you saying that there are some train services in Scotland that are completely cut off from the outside world?

Surely all inspectors are issued with radios, or if not, are able to speak to the driver who would DEFINITELY been able to contact the police at the next station?

so witnessing that situation would influence the way i feel about this, it doesn't, and can assure you there is nothing remotely funny about either.
Seeing as how aggressive, rude behaviour, and swearing would not have been tolerated once, but now is commonplace, and had the ticket inspector been a much younger man, i wonder if the student would have been as stroppy.

sp, in this case no idea, perhaps the man, who i think has been suspended, will come out and tell his side of the story.
By the way - not that I'm excusing his behaviour, but I'm tempted to believe his story about the OUT/RTN tickets.

There's something about his story, educational achievements and background which suggests that he's not some hoodie scally.

Then again...we have Dave Gilmour's son who shoot a cannonball through that argument...

People have trouble getting the Police to turn up at their house when being robbed and you think the Police will turn out to some train station in the middle of the countryside to sort out a fare dodger.
again, irrelevant in this circumstance...just because one person got stabbed, doesnt mean every person who doesnt have a ticket is a potential killer!
Sals...different branch of the police force.
Has the youth in question been charged with fare dodging?

teddy boy, don't know, but all three people are in trouble. The incidences of passengers assaulting rail staff are not small, so not one that's for sure.
ummmm i am a member of the Railway Club and have friends who are guards and drivers i hear what happens from them and i can tell you it is not easy for them to get the police to meet them at some stations.
Well if we presume he hasnt been charged , after film footage ect. What realistically were te chances of him being charged by police in the first place?Nil it would seem.

Teddy boy

Main, 19, has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for a breach of the peace and trespass.
salspotter - but the British Transport Police is there specifically to handle incidents such as these. Completely different from the regular police...
Personaly,i think the gobby little Sugar bag got what he deserved, maybe next time he will think twice about being a gobby little Sugar bag.
suger bag lololololololol
Another example of why people don't help. I can say that if I saw any of you lot on here being kicked to death by someone, I would walk away. It's not worth the hassle getting involved. I would certainly expect you all to do the same.

Look after number 1 is what I say.
Question Author
grff, i would hope someone would help if that happened to me, but i suspect not. Having been a good Samaritan a number of times, i didn't see that would be right to just walk past and ignore the person in distress. Lots obviously do not agree, and see this as a case of big bloke breaking the law.
