Our resident right-wing bigots must be in a real tangle over this. They hate muslims, but they hate gays too. But the muslims hate gays, so that's good, isn't it? But muslims being imprisoned, well that must be good too mustn't it? Oh but they're imprisoned because of hating gays, so isn't it bad that gay-haters are imprisoned.... but it's MUSLIMS hating gays, so that's good, but... With any luck, with their tiny brains being twisted into a knot, all the bigots will implode.

Also amusing on news sites to see gay-haters having to take sides and adjust their prejudices on this occasion so they can revel in the imprisonment of muslims. There are some comments vitriolically condemning islam for its homophobia - from homophobics who the rest of the time villify gays for being unnatural and are usually one step away from being gay-bashers themselves.

No, because they are bigots they are unable to see the anomaly. Bigots just hate.

i believe what they did was wrong. I am a muslim myself and it is not our duty to spread hate to others. ISLAM means peace. Of course though, people only look at the minority of the bad muslims who in my eyes are not even muslims at all. None of the good muslims or normal peace loving muslims are rarely talked about.
LP, i wondered the same, it's amazing that someone can throw accusations like that around with no come back, or substantial evidence.
It is wrong to hate other people.

There is never any justification for it.

It is wrong, wrong, wrong.

I hate people who hate people.

No, hang on ... that can't be right.
sith, i wish there was more positive feedback in the papers about Muslims in society. However when i watch the news, it's all you see from places like Pakistan, Afghanistan, of endless deaths caused by Muslim against Muslim, which is something i don't understand at all. For a peaceful religion, why do so many people get harmed or killed, men women and children.
Hear hear sith, that's a good post - and the peaceable Muslims who are my friends abhor all the extremism anyway, the extremists are not representative of the rank and file of the faith.
I've just finished an 11 hour night shift and reading the OP alone has given me a headache......
It's politics that causes the violence and deaths, Em10, much more than religion.
And to top it off, Susanna isn't on the BBC this morning as she ought to be!
For once, sith, you make a very relevant point. 98%, whatever the number is, are indeed peace loving and accepting of fellow man - Christianity is no better and we just have to look at N Ireland for that....

I am not sure who JimT is trying to needle - his wording comes across as being on the border of being extremely insulting and rude. Proof please, JimT and who exactly are you accusing.... Yes there are those who do not like Muslims and those who do not like gays, but to call them bigots, without proof, is harsh. Also, from a philosophical point of view, just because some one does like Muslims or gays does not mean that they are in a tangle. Just break open your mental Venn diagram into a more fluid concept.
Sandy, maybe so, but religion seems to be a dividing factor, and tribe against tribe so to speak. Sunni against shiites, why?
em, same difference as Catholics -v- Protestants in Northern Ireland...
boxy,
Has Nibble had the op? Apologies to the OP whose thread it is for the slight derailment!
It is similar to the anomaly a few years ago when left wingers were showing their support for Hamas, even though Hamas was/is hugely homophobic, mysogynistic and delights in torture and terrorism, because of Israel's actions and the fact that Hamas refuse to recognise Israel.

On the one hand you had an organisation that hates gays and women, and on the other hand you hand the same organisation also hated Israel.

As Israel is anathema to the left, it must have tied their tiny brains into a knot!

The point is, there are bigots on both sides.

I'm right wing, and whilst I do have some concerns over Muslim Extremism (as should we all), 'normal' Muslims are tickety boo in my book, as are gay people. They are adults, its not illegal, so good luck to them.
boxy, exactly so, cannot understand anyone who preaches peace, is a person of what ever faith but then goes and gets a gun, bomb and kills someone, surely that is against all the principles of faith and the teachings of the respective religion.
Philtaz - no, still not yet - will update other thread later.
Cheers boxy.

I'm with you on this JJ

Henceforth people who hate people will be called ''Folkhaters'' ( you have to say it quickly & slur the first 4 letters)

Ron.
Sith, //Islam means peace.//

It doesn't. It means 'submission'.
