tragic news. dreadful for his family and friends to cope with :(
Yes very very sad, and I can only second the condemnation of those who showed support for this killer, and also blamed the police's actions.

On the radio this morning, I listened to an early interview of PC David Rathband, and he was saying that without the support of his wife and family, he didn't know how he would have got through it.

It has been reported that his wife had left him, I can't imagine how she must feel now, could she have been stronger and stuck by him, could others have given more support?

Easy to say in hindsight I suppose, and don't we all say at times, "if only"?

I only hope that everyone close to him, and with help from the experts, can now rally together and help each other to come to terms with what has happened.

And in the years ahead can learn , not to forget, but to carry on and lead a happy and peaceful life, remembering all the good times before that 'madman' altered their lives for ever.
He and his wife had 'separated'.....he had been arrested for assaulting her....she continued to support his rehabilitation although they were not living together.

Please don't try and apportion blame to Mrs Rathband, AOG. The *only* person to blame is Raoul Moat!!
jackthehat

Read my whole post, not just what your mind wants to read into it.
Too many assumptions and conclusions being drawn here here about the family. Lets not go there pleeeeease - leave that to the tabloid newspapers and then don't buy them

Moat did this and left everyone trying to pick up the pieces.
The facebook petition astounded me. Moat had hundreds of people supporting him, whereas the woman who put a cat in a wheelie bin had death threats against her....I was truly speechless!!!
My point was not to ' make assumptions' about the family maidup, merely to point out that for all any of us know their marriage might have been in big trouble before the incident, especially since he assaulted his wife and they then seperated. I feel truly sorry for the woman and wish her the very best, but this suicide may not have been a. anything to do with him being blinded, or b. anything to do with him having seperated from his wife- we simply don't know.
This is just so tragic, I feel so sad for him and his family - I heard about his marriage problems and hoped they would work them out.

There are some vile disgusting people among us, RM was one of them - his deluded supporters are out in their droves posting disgusting comments on facebook, it's scary how sick some people are.
