Another case of some fool not realizing that alcohol and twitter do not make good bedfellows.

But what is it that landed him in jail?

It's all very curious - and I'm thinking it couldn't be him laughing over the 'death' of Muamba, but something more serious, does anyone know what he actually wrote?

"bazwill's comments are bordering on the totally unacceptable and reflect that"

how pitiful some of the self opinionated handwringers on this site are.

all i have said is that he shouldnt have gone to prison, please show me where I said that I support his comments or that i have said he should not have been punished ?............i'm still waiting.

Yet again we see the same garbage that is spewed out by some people on here when they see something that doesnt agree with their line of thought, and as usual the site lets them get away with it.

and I see yet again more derisory attacks directed at another poster that the site seems to allow, puzzling how some people seem to get away with anything on this site....double standards
AOG,

Will you kindly please desist from trying to associate my name from wishing the Queen dead. The remark you refer to was another poster. You did the same a couple of weeks ago. I told you then that you were dishonest in trying to misrepresent my views. Now, a couple of weeks later, in a post addressed to me, you sneak in the same remark.

I though you were better AOG than to use such underhand debating skills.
Gromit

/// Will you kindly please desist from trying to associate my name from wishing the Queen dead. The remark you refer to was another poster. ///

You wrote the following on 09/01/12, I think this is proof enough.

/// Let's just have the Queen shot before the summer and save a few pennies. ///

Granted the other request to see the Queen and the rest of her family dead, was posted by another ABer and not you, but I have already addressed this mistake which I made in associating you with both comments.

This was the other offensive remark that I am referring to.

/// The Russians knew what to do with a (so-called) royal family. ///

/// I look forward to the day that we do the same. ///

But as I have already said, these totally unnecessary and offensive remarks were allowed to remain unchallenged, and as already said some ABers can get away with things when others can't.
That was in sarcastic answer to your question bemoaning the cost of keeping the queen from not getting shot.

// Security Costs

The security bill for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee could be as much as £100M. //
Gromit

Sarcastic answer or not, you still made that comment, and in no way does it excuses you for making it.

That sad individual who made the excuse that he was drunk, when he made that remark regarding the collapsed football player, but he was still imprisoned.
-- answer removed --
Gromit has no need to wish death on the queen; contrary to the beliefs of some, she is mortal.

AOG

I celebrate the convictions of the three gang members who shot and paralysed the little girl, who will now end up in a wheel chair for life.

Likewise, I am quite happy that Liam Stacey. Through his own actions (remember, no-one FORCED him to post the vile comments on Twitter) has ruined his life.

Same as Dave Gilmour's son.

Those who has everything going for them, owe it to themselves not to ruin their own lives. If they do - tough.

Bazwillrun - you haven't answered my question. Would it be okay to walk up to a random female and call her the 'c' word?

If not, then is that PC?

What are your thoughts on this matter?
What this guy said in tweets is absolutely abhorrent. He is scum. However, the jail sentence is ludicrous. I do not agree with the jail sentence at all.
"Bazwillrun - you haven't answered my question. Would it be okay to walk up to a random female and call her the 'c' word?

shame you havent read exactly what I said, please show me where I condoned in any way or form what was said ?

All i said was a jail was a ridiculous sentence, passed by a judge for PC reasons.
I did not say or intimate that he shouldnt have been pupunished.

I dont suppose it will get through your obviously very dense skull, but then do i really care.....nope.

But as usual and to be expected the same old people twist and distort things to suit.
"Would it be okay to walk up to a random female and call her the 'c' word? "

no, but if you did its extremely unlikely you would be jailed for saying it.
Morning Baz,

Try and be civil please.
where have I been uncivil ?
//I dont suppose it will get through your obviously very dense skull, but then do i really care.....nope. //

That's not very civil.
"I dont suppose it will get through your obviously very dense skull"
Thanks Ed for the links - I was also curious about what had actually been said that led to a jail sentence. Clearly a case of using the telcom network to cause fear and incite hatred.
However - and it's a big however - I don't think I'm alone in seeing this kind of abusive language going on online and on txt msg quite often. In fact it does seem to be a characteristic of some young people that they can't help but get all nasty and potty-mouthed when in charge of a keyboard / keypad. And even when shocking cyberbullying is proven, these folk don't get prison.
So I'm caught in this dilemma, and I think on the basis of the evidence I've seen that a jail sentence was unduly harsh.
Baz and AOG - why not set up a separate thread so you can hate each other without diverting the original question?
It was a statement of fact based on the ridiculous line of questioning and demand for answers from someone who makes a habit of it and twists and distorts what otheres have said.

there seems to be a small clique on here who seem to be able to do what they want here with impunity
"and I think on the basis of the evidence I've seen that a jail sentence was unduly harsh."

so you agree with what I and others have said but yet go on to say

"Baz and AOG - why not set up a separate thread so you can hate each other without diverting the original question?"

Yeah, i thought i read those last five words correctly, which leads me to wonder why you typed out that you agree that jail was unduly harsh

the word hypocritical springs to mind here
Thanks Baz. AB is a reliable source of intelligent debate and discussion. Did you know that, or are you being ironic?
Jail seems a bit harsh to me too Mosaic, but like many others on here I'm not going to lose sleep over it.

However, I believe it is important that everyone realises that they're not anonymous online - that it is "real life". The case highlights this particularly well.
