Galloway?
'Respect' to someone prepared to go against the brainwashing of WMD.
I see him as no better or worse than other politicians eg Jack Straw, who while foreign secretary shook hands with Mugabe; Bliar and all his works and pomps; and the craven money-grabbing posh boys in power at present.
Galloway's judgement will lie in the job he does, for which he's been elected. An interesting time for Bradford, and I expect a number of 'safe seats' will be feeling less than comfortable this morning.
As a point of interest to the original post: at what point are immigrant settlers no longer referred to as traitors and outsiders?

Well no, there is Galloway and that grey haired fellow in a blue shirt, but then we don't know what religion those two follow do we?
/// Speaking ahead of a celebratory open-top bus tour around his new constituency, he said: 'I think Bradford needs a change. Anybody who knows the city and loves it knows it's not what it was.' ///
"it's not what it was" are we talking pre-60s here George? If so then who can possibly disagree with you.
/// He added: 'This is the Bradford Spring, just like the Cairo Spring and the Tunisian Spring. ///
Let's hope not, or we are in for some violent disruptions to say the least.

It is failry easy to campaign on 'single issues' (ok he did more than one so dont start jumping on that) especially when you have no real chance of power you can say almost what you like. It is of course a different kettle of fish if you do eventually come to power as the liberals have found out, but that is unlikley to happen for Galloway.
Personally I think him to be a shrewd politician, but there again so was Hitler.
The labout party dont need to worry about this it is Galloways personal agenda, they should ignore it and carry on.

Bethnal Green and Bow, where Galloway was before, had the second highest percentage of Muslim residents of any constituency at the time of the 2001 census. Bradford West had the third highest, at 37.6 per cent. [Bloomberg news item] He seems to choose his constituencies with that in mind, and is rewarded.
Whatever your views of him, you may have enjoyed his performance before the Senate committee, answering accusations that he took funds from Iraq. As a piece of advocacy, and of rhetoric, it was stunning. And that skill is what he employs so effectively here, for his electorate.

49F, I think you're being deliberately provocative, and remembering things from way back when, quite deliberately. All that's in the past - the electorate who bothered to vote have elected him by a very large margin. Nothing to do with Muslims - and a lot of Muslims really didn't support the Gadaffi regime any more than we did.
same way they could vote for someone dressed like the doorman in a Cairo hotel, craft?

He and Ken Livingstone have a lot in common they were both paid by Iran's propaganda English TV Channel. They both ignore opposition and suck up to left wing totalitarian regimes . They are clever opportunists and sound genuine like all con men. G G had his own show on Iran's state controlled where he peddled anti UK rhetoric until the channel was closed down for preaching violence.
Labour should have won easily in Bradford and would have done so had they attacked G G propaganda instead it appears they were too complacent and believed Labour voters are a load of sheep. " Once Labour always Labour "
and there is some truth in that but it is changing as the immigrant population see society in a different way.
