As far as I know, you can only claim benefits if you have an address to give the DSS. Maybe that's one of the reasons these people do what they do?

You would sympathise with me trt if you knew my situation. I left my house for 3 weeks unattended after my Mum died. When I returned, the local Muslims had caused £800 worth of vandalism to my property, which I am still saving up to put right. They don't have to be squatters to cause misery.

It's way past time the law on squatting was changed to make it illegal and squatters should be arrested and made to pay for any damage done.

Anyone watch the recent programme about squatters? The home owners can be prosecuted for breaking into their own homes if there are squatters in there and you can't even change the locks
You should be able to go in and drag the blighter's out by the short and curlys

The way it's done is that person A will look for a property that appears to be unoccupied. He/She will break a window, or do, but will NOT gain entry.

Later on, person B will walk into the property, because technically he/she hasn't broken in - there was already entry supplied by their accomplice - however, there is little that can be done to prove this.

Sir Alec - how did you know who'd done that to your property...you have my sympathy by the way. I can't imagine anything worse than going through a death in the family AND dealing with your place being vandalised on your return (and vandalism is such a 'useless' crime - I can understand burglary, because there's a financial result...but vandalism is just making people upset for no reason).
