At least his actions made this pointless event newsworthy
as I pointed out on the other thread:

"It's not the first time this form of 'political' protest has happened at a UK national event, go back to the Suffragettes and the Derby 1913, when Emily Davison threw herself in front of King George V's horse and killed herself. "
Do we know why he did it yet? I'd be interested to know that before I start condemming him really.
He was protesting about Elitism.
^^^ zzzzzzzzz

Not you Ladybirder - him!
Aaah fair enough, seems a bit silly then; I've no personal interest in the boat race but I don't think it's particularly elitist as lots of people seem to enjoy it. I was just thinking if he had something worthwhile to highlight then I could potentialy see the point to it if that makes sense.
You mean if you agree with what he's protesting about it's OK and if you don't it isn't? Surely not:-)
Stupid, idiotic, childish act; I hope he can be sued? If he wanted notoriety he could learn from D.Walliams ?
Naomi24.....without the controversy created by this protestor the boat race wouldn't have merited any more than the usual 'Oxford/Cambridge beat Cambridge/Oxford in todays boat race'
^^ So what's wrong with that?
The prat spoilt it for millions of people joe. If he had spoilt a football match would you feel the same?
And if it had merited just the usual few minutes in the news that's fine. Why would we care?
Millions? Lol
Its just the thames we are living in .I dont really want to put my oar in here but it was a rudder silly thing to do.He cant deny it millions saw his boat race .
apparently the race is watched (on average) annually by 6m in the UK, and followed by watchers in 180 countries.

that probably just about qualifies the amount who were taking some sort of interest - even if only on the off-chance of a sinking - as "millions".
who were the beaten semi finalists ? they seem to be in every years final
So many people who obviously have nothing better to do with their lives than watch a pointless non-event!
aren't all sporting fixtures pointless non - events then? or just the ones you dont watch?
