/// Producers avoided showing pictures of abusive fans. Instead ITV filled half the screen with sombre images from Anfield stadium, ///
I wonder if these repulsive shouts of 'Murderers' would have been treated with the same obvious indifference, had they been racial connected shouts?
These abusive fans should have been shown, and action taken so as to ban them from attending further matches, especially the Cup Final.

its irrelevant anyway - 96 died and 700-odd injured - regardless of how it happened - most of them just innocent fans...

the heysel deaths were caused by a falling wall... not murder ... of course if there hadnt been fighting then it 'possibly' wouldnt have fallen... but who knows?
also according to that link - the fighting was not actually by liverpudlians...
i dont know - but its also irrelevant here
96 people are dead. thats whats important.

the belief was they had attended 'as' liverpool supporters - but werent - and had only gone as an excuse to attack italians
basically they were hooligans with no other purpose than fighting - and apparently were not from liverpool
i dont know all the details... but it does not excuse cheslea chanting through a minutes silence for dead football fans

<<According to this it seems that the Liverpool fans were to blame. >>
Really Old Git?
the article you linked states:
'An official inquiry into the Hillsborough Disaster found South Yorkshire Police failed with crowd control in the tunnels at the stadium which led to horrific overcrowding.'
Hardly surprising then that <four days after the disaster> police officers' knee jerk reaction would be to point fingers elsewhere.
The police are good at misinformation - a 'talent' you can probably appreciate

I suppose the disaster was commemorated at the Wembly FA Cup semi final yesterday, because the tragedy happened at a FA Cup semi final 23 years ago. It was not commemorated at other grounds.
But not sure it has much relevance to Chelsea or Tottenham supporters, many of whom were not even born 23 years ago. All could have been avoided by 1 minute applause, but the FA are shambles.

It could have been avoided by just having a minutes silence at the Liverpool v Everton match.
I do wish people on here who openly admit to not liking football, but are quick to class all football supporters as knuckle dragging, racist, homophobic troublemakers would stop commenting on a subject they know nothing about.
96 people were crushed to death at Hillsborough in 1989..Stop blaming folks and show some respect.

I suugest that before you pass comment, that you actualy do a little basic research.
Football fans were and are an easy target, and there is no doubt there is a certain section that do nothing but reinforce that stereotype.
Heysel: Yes there was violence from Liverpool supporters but there were no seats, the Liverpool "supporters" ran at a fence, after an exchange of missile throwing, the Italians thinking the fence was going to give way, rushed in the corner of their pen and the wall collapsed. The fact that the Liverpool supporters initiated the stampede, has been used by a lot of people to avoid the fact that football authorities were told the ground was unsuitable and was poorly stewarded. This isn't saying that Liverpool fans were without blame, but if the wall had stood theres a probabilit, all of those people would still be alive.
Hillsborough - The police feared a crush outside the ground, opened the main gate and allowed the crowd to rush into the centre pens, the official report states if those people had been channeled to the sides, it could of been avoided. It also states that those at the back had no idea what was happening at the front and that the police at the front disregarded the cries of those being crushed. To me as a regular football goer for many years its like blaming the victim of a drunk driver for crossing the road.
The youngest victim was 10. Two sisters died and it gos on. Innocents
I don't care who you are, you cannot excuse those who chanted yesterday, but it shouldn't be used as something to beat the normal civilised Chelsea supporters who respected it
