Fire death children
85 Answers
It appears that the parents of the 6 children killed in a fire at Derby have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are to be questioned later. There seems to have been rumours and I wondered if that was what they were about after caravan/mini bus were taken for forensic examination. I suppose it wasn't meant to be anything other than an accident which went terribly wrong. If they did do it, they will have this to live with for the rest of their lives. Those poor children.

Yes and the 'evidence' the police get from the public interview they use when interviewing them privately. That can lead to an admission because they can't explain it.
Here is a good website that looks at cases and evidence of what people say/do. http://www.statementanalysis.com/cases/ Some should find it interesting.

In my opinion if they actually did this, they did not anticipate that the children would be trapped in the house and die. Most people have no idea how fast a petrol fuelled fire will spread.
My above statement stands for whoever is eventually found guilty of this crime, whether that be the parents or someone else.

It is chilling that most of the time you read a story such as this, later on the parents are arrested. I would put my life before my childs and would never harm him for the world. I thoght it was arson, are they saying that was not the case now and also were they not in the house? I have read very little about it
lets hope a neighbour has a cctv cam
i think even the most idiotic of people would not set fire to their house with their kids asleep in bed - 6 of them - for a new house.
i can believe an idiot would set fire to the main escape route of the house, but they would have know that to get 6 small people out of a burning building is very difficult and risky.
surely they couldnt have thought they could get six out iin time?
or perhaps they thought the fire would stay small for a while... and it went up fast?
i dont know whether theyre guilty but its a bizarre thing to do...defies logic to do it with the kids inside
unless they just dont want the kids anymore...but that would be weird

bednobs... i havent seen the whole thing but actually if you watch it, they certainly do not seem like they've been sobbing - no blocked noses, no wiping noses, no red watery eyes, no red cheeks or noses, no tears streaming, trembling lips, no faltering voices, no gasping breaths etc...
screwed up faces and eye dabbing is all they did.
i am not saying anything one way or the other... but that video certainly didnt 'look' like genuine crying ...
unless someone can provide a link to the full version? i couldnt find one

I would think that it might make sense to wait on further events before passing judgement on the guilt or otherwise of these people.
We should all remember the scurrilous prejudging and character assassination of Christopher Jeffries, Joanna Yates' landlord, before being so quick to pass judgement.

As to the emotion displayed at their TV statement - All people respond differently to truly tragic circumstances. Some seem more able to compose themselves, others less so - that does not indicate innocence or guilt. As far as I could see, based upon the video I saw, it seemed to me that they were showing plenty of emotion, both displated and pent - up - but you can read nothing into that.

Is it a factor in this case that the father has five wives and 17 children ?

just watched the full version.
i stand by what i said before - i still doubt them.
i have seen many actors turn on the waterworks on-set...
there is water on their eyes and cheeks, their shoulders shake, they gasp, their voice falters, they close their eyes almost like trying to wish it away, lips tremble, they shake their heads in disbelief, they stare into the distance, they grit their teeth as though trying to stop themselves from crying, they have a visible struggle to compose themselves - its learnt tricks - these people had none of that.
there is a bit where he's about to 'break down' into sobs - but stops himself for a second the says something else... when you are devastated and 'about to go' you go... you cannot stop it to make a comment.
his breakdowns also only last a few seconds - we all know its not that easy to recover from devastated sobbing
her expression looked painted on, her long slow eye wipes...yet she hadnt actually cried inbetween... they both wiped their eyes many times, yet there were no tears.
i would also note that NOT ONCE did they ask for information on who did this, they did not display any anger about wanting the culprit found etc
most parent would be begging for information etc -
perhaps because subconsciously they know there is no-one to find...?
they also did not mention their actual children at any time except for one about his organs... no wailing about their babies have gone their darling kids... how shocked and horrified they are about it, no disbelief at how anyone could do such a thing to them ... nothing -
maybe because they know exaclty how it happened....?
the whole situation is utterly gobsmacking ... most people woul be in a state of shock - he just witters on about how other people have been good, the poor police, going back to the house.
and as for doing a massive list of thank yous? what? as if you would be thinking of stuff like that?
as i say, i dont KNOW and i certainly hope i am very wrong... i am not one to just kneejeark accuse because i know how wrong that is and i am often the one to berate others on here when they do that ... but from what i have seen, based purely on that video and their body language etc - i have doubts sadly.

As I said, you cannot judge body language in abnormal situations. Have they been given sedatives or tranquilisers? Are they affected by the tv cameras and the number of reporters using flash cameras?
Are they in shock? Numb with grief?
I was in a shocking accident years ago, and when I got to hospital I said the most appalling things, things I would not normally say and behaved in a totally bizarre way. I was in shock. It affects people differently
