The artist displayed this painting outside the High Court in response to the Leveson enquiry and the Prime Minister's role in it.

Kaya Mar, the artist, is a political satirist and he will lampoon anyone in the political dock.
The Ayotollah has been lampooned in the UK without revolt or riots, and Private Eye has had such cartoons on its front page and is still in business.

venator as i am not around early hours of the morning, considering that some of us actually like to sleep, i have no idea what you mean. Obtuse, what about? I meant that the man who composed this picture of cameron would not do so if the subject was a Muslim, Sikh, as that would i am sure be construed as offensive. Perhaps some like to pick holes in comments without understanding the nature or meaning of them
it's a political statement, this pic, whether we understand it or not. It's not a nice picture, but look at the rest of his stuff - it's all poking fun at policitians.
I have no idea how the race card comes into play in some people's minds - ok most of his subjects are white but they're not all British http://www.kayamar.co.uk/page5.htm

It made me smile, because I instantly connected with what I perceive to be the intent of the artist - to mock Cameron's lack of candour at the Levison Enquiry.
In my view AOG, you are seeing a racist element that simply does not exist - the ethnicity of the artist and subject are note relavent, it is a satirical dig at the PM, the sort that cartoonists in national papers, including our Daily Mail, do on a regular basis.
As for us all coming from monkeys - we don't.
Prehistoric primeval apes evolved into separate species - anthrapoid apes and humans, we are not decended from monkeys - or more acurately anthrapoid apes - but we are noth decended from a common ancestor, the primeval ape.

There are many on this site who are regularly prepared to interpret certain things as racist and offensive.
Why can't I join in?
andy-hughes, I never said we came from monkeys, I was only replying to someone who did.
I am also aware that it was a satirical dig at the PM, and the connection with the 3 wise monkeys, I was just asking the question "would this have been acceptable if the subject person had happened to be black"?
It was merely making a dig at all those on this site who are quick to attach an offensive/racist element to things, where none exist.

A hate crime is:
“Any criminal offence which is perceived to be
motivated by hostility towards a person’s race or
religion or perceived race or religion, by the
victim or any other person.”

If you think this is a hate crime then prosecute the artist.
Of course being able to prosecute on such a broad basis is despicable. The wording should be:
“Any criminal offence which is perceived to be
motivated by hostility towards a person’s passive
characteristics, by the victim or any other person.”
Other crimes should be covered by harassment, assault, slander etc.

Amusing, aog. The joke abot you not seeing why it was offensive to call black players monkeys when it wasn't to call white ones that, was a good one.
Of course, you can find those racially over-sensitive people, and have a 'dig' without having to start a new thread. Many, or most, of your posts have a racial or Muslim element or theme, don't they? Do any of them have a racial element which does not exist, in the sense that it is irrelevant ? Those would attract responses from your targetted readership on here, to the full extent that that exists.
This one was prima facie indistinguishable from the many. Did you find your target?

I've thought about your post defending your original questio for a while and I would like to make that 'uhhh urrr' sound from 'Family Fortunes' when the family member gets a question wrong.
You asked whether a white artist would be allowed together away with this, and the implication was that the artist was not denounced because of his racial background.
Forgive me, but I now suspect that your calf muscles are sore from the furious amount of back-pedalling that you have subsequently had to do.

/// Many, or most, of your posts have a racial or Muslim element or theme, don't they? ///
The short answer is "NO"!
There have been only eight out of the last forty question that have contained a racial or Muslim element theme, and even some of those eight are only very loosely connected.
What would you like to see?
That all topical news items that contain the least suggestion of a racial or Muslim element theme in them, should be considered a 'No-No' on the news topic section of Answerbank?
You will notice that this question has attracted 76 answers so far, so it must be creating an interest, if you don't like the subject matter why do you join in?

Since you addressed your second paragraph to me, I automatically considered you where still addressing me when you entered your third paragraph.
