No - my question is about the country being under seige by some Liberal elite. The Conservatives are the majority party in the country. Major corporations are run with strategic monetarist policies, the banks and the City don't seem particularly 'happy clappy'.
If the judiciary (also not an establishment known for it's liberalism) is bound by the constraints of the ECHR, then it's not really their fault that these decisions are made.
But back to the original point I was making...is it right to compare the two stories where there are checks made in one instance, and not in the other?
What about this as an idea...we could implement a visa system whereby foreign nationals visiting (even for a holiday) would need to prove beforehand that they had no serious criminal convictions. Upon applying to the British embassy in their native country, they could then get a visa stamp which would either allow them to work, or come for a holiday.
The only problem with that is that it would require a change in the law so that it applied to EU residents too...and I think that would be extremely difficult to pass.
