Just heard about this Olympic high jumper in Team GB Robbie Grabarz - what a case for changing his name by deed poll! Hope he didn't get ribbed at school - bless him. Do you know anyone with an embarrassing name?
Sandyroe could you please explain this as it seems to have been a joke name from the 60's-70's comedies and understand that fanny was a womans name as well as part of the anatomy but still don't understand the whole Fanny cradock thing.
Fanny Cradock was a bit of a harridan and her husband, Johnny, seemed the typical hen-pecked spouse. At least that's how it looked on their television cookery programme
But, I agree, there's nothing innately funny about her name.
There was a Ronald McDonald in North Belfast long before the ubiquitous cardboard burger chain arrived in the UK.
I was working in casualty one night when my pal Jim said, "I'll deal with this patient and you can get the next one". Thank goodness he did. Her name was Ms Cuntz and we were very immature at the time. Yes, even more so than now.
Years back, I used to do Security on the gates of a large Industrial Complex, one of the regular service guys to visit the site, and, who was built like a brick outhouse was Mr. Wayne King.
It was sometimes difficult to keep a straight face when booking him in.
