/// In July, thousands of people dragged a Pakistani man accused of desecrating the Koran from a police station in the central Pakistani city of Bahawalpur, beat him to death and then set his body on fire. ///

When are countries such as this and their people going to join us in the 21st century?

it is unlikely we could have any influence on this matter, but one can comment surely.
Unfortunately ludwig it is this culture that they bring with them into the UK - although we have had no stoneing of females etc but we do have honour killings -
add arranged marriages, fine if they agree to it, if not then that is not good, genital mutilation, and sundry other practices one wouldn't have expected in a modern society.
Who know what goes on behind those secret closed doors of the Sharia courts in the UK.
Thousands of people dragged a Pakistani man?

no, but nor do we want to go backwards, dressing women head to toe in black, just in case some man becomes inflamed with desire if he sees just a smidgen of her body, be it hands, hair, just absurd. Or that a child can be bayed at by hundreds of people calling for her blood, for what exactly.
Maybe we don't understand this culture, but why do we have to?

do you think they treat their elderly or children any better, and most cultures revere celebrity in one form or another. As to sport, Pakistan is no exception, cricket being not just a passing fancy.
// the pages were found in a bag she was holding, //
