Well don't you think that Netanyahu and his Government might just have something to do with your mention of "Israeli" in your heading to this article?
So saying that you didn't even mention them is quite hilarious. Who were you talking about then when you used the word "Israeli"? Some little yiddish farmer?

This is an interesting analysis I read a few months ago

It would not be an easy thing for Israel to pull off given the range
Iran's missiles are capable of reaching israel but ae not sufficiently accurate with conventional warheads (Which I imagine is why the Israelis want to do it soon)
I can't see it causing a direct war without the involvement of the seperating states.

What's different now is that currently Iranian missiles do not have the accuracy to retalliate effectively - with nuclear warheads Iran would be able to defend itself with the same effectiveness that Israel now has.
If Israel wants to maintain military superiority it has to act before that happens.
Such an operation is at the limits of Israel's capability but well within that of the US - I think they had rather hoped the Americans would do their dirty work for them but that seems unlikely under Obama.
With the US elections coming up they have the opportunity to mobilise the powerful Jewish lobby in the US and make it an election issue
That (in my assessment) is what's different now

The US has been trying extracate itself from two wars for a decade. The last thing Obama will permit is another one before the Presidential Election. Israel will be disauded from going it alone because the US could easily be dragged into a conflict. The israelis do better in Washington when the Republicans are in charge. They would like to see the back of Obama but wouldn't risk defying him until the US election result is known.

Iran is a long way from Israel - it is not an easy target for them
They also need to be confident of the diplomatic response from the US
The US gives them billions of dollars in military aid each year - If Obama says "No" they can't do a thing - that's why the US election is important.
Obama won't stop them if it angers the US Jewish lobby he needs for re-election

Israel has been wiped off the map before. It didn't involve nuclear weapons or mass destruction. Every middle eastern nation were against Israel being restored to the map in 1948. Iran did say it wanted Israel wiped off the map but they were not threating nuclear war. They are developing long range conventional weapons. Israel already has those so they want parity. All the talk of Iran developing Nuclear weapons is a side show and a deception. Israel is really frighten of being in range of conventional weapons.

There isn't really any evidence that Iran are developing Nuclear weapons. The iAEA have said so. The Iranians banned inspections because the US were sending spies not genuine inspectors. The enrichment plants are for producing energy.
Oil is a finite ressource and will run out. Iran is using his oil wealth to plan for its energy needs in the future. We were self sufficient in North Sea oil but we didn't give up nuclear power for 4 decades.
