to obtain a shotgun certificate you have to apply to the old bill they keep records, any shotgun purchased is recorded and the gun should be kept secure, cartridges to be kept elsewhere. FACT. No such restrictions apply to scumbags.
I am on no-one's side Ann. I am, however, disappointed that so many ABeers would do grievous harm to someone to protect "stuff", to the extent of killing them.
I won't entertain the idea that my family is in imminent danger because that is a strawman argument, and is not relevant.
What you people are saying is that you would shoot someone, without question.
I make no apologies for wholheartedly opposing that position.
"cartridges to be kept elsewhere"

Not for shotgun cartridges... firearm rounds have to be kept securely locked away separate to the gun, but shot gun cartridges don't even have to be locked away and keeping them on a shelf in the same cabinet as the gun is perfectly OK.
We've explained already mojo. It's nothing to do with 'stuff' it's protecting your family and yourself.
If the gun is in a cabinet. What if it's sitting by the kitchen table in case a pesky rabbit happens by?
Wrong.
There are two different sorts of shooting Mojo - shooting to kill and shooting in the legs to stop them escaping with your property. It is clear from the report that the farmer intended to do the second option and succeeded - they had injuries to the leg which were not life treatening according to the news reports.
No it isn't ummmm. According to most of what I've rwad here, and the news report, it's about someone being in your house.
I didn't read anything about them being axe-wielding murderers.
You've put your own perception on it.
Either way Ann, how was the gun so instantly accessible in the heat of the moment? Also, why was it loaded?
No...but it would be a stupid person who thought 4 men were there to take their stuff nicely.
Chuck I did say cartridges should be KEPT away from guns not that they had to be locked away , according to Essex Police.
You live with your spouse in the middle of nowhere. Four men, aged 27, 23, 31 and 33 break into your house. You know they know you're likely to have a gun, yet they still break in. Are these not exceptional circumstances?
If someone enters my house uninvited they aren't leaving alive.
Yes Elli....I would say so.
No you didn't, you said "to be kept elsewhere. FACT"

they don't have to be kept away from the gun at all. it's recommended, but not a legal requirement.
Personally ummmmm, if it was that serious, I'd let them take my stuff.
Whatever, I could not and would not shoot them.
If you would, then so be it, but if that's the case I think I may be slightly better evolved than you.
I don't have an OMG what about the children fixation.
I'd hit them with my hair straighteners : )
Nicky Clarke...hottest you can get.
I have my hurley and I wouldn't be afraid to use it.
Chuck I can only state that that is what my local firearms /shotgun officer said, and I do agree with the firearms bit that you stated ealier.
I suggest you store it legally then ummmm, and in an event of a break in, remember where the keys are, get to the cabinet, unlock it, load it, aim it an fire it all in an instinctive split second.
