It seems that we go ages without a celebrity passing away, and then all of a sudden, we lose a slew all in a short space.

Extra sad when you feel they haven't lived 'all' their life yet...

Watched 'The Island' again on Saturday. It was much better than I remembered.

And yes Brenden...he came across as a real gentle giant in the interviews on the DVD for 'The Green Mile'.

And just the other day Hal David (one of the greatest lyricists of the 20th century in my opinion) passed away.

Michael Clarke Duncan is one of those actors who you see once and remember for a long time. The Green Mile was a film based on a Stephen King series of novellas which starred Tom Hanks. MCD played an inmate on death row with Jesus-like powers.

(Sounds weird, but it's a really good, uplifting movie).

I believe Starship is a popular beat combo m'lud, celebrated among the lower classes for their rather loud and rythmic ..er..music.

I second SP's comments - The Green Mile does sound like a weird film but it's well worth watching, IMO.

It's re-run now and again on the telly, so make sure and tune in - fab film.

You should have said Jefferson Airplane. Even I know them and I think I caught sight of them at one of the very early Isle of Wight festivals probably in about1968. i thought they turned it in donkeys' years ago.

\i'm not living in a bubble, Zeuhl. It's just that my interests do not correspond with those of most other people. In particular when it comes to films, I rarely come across a film which I think might amuse me. I have not been to a cinema since 1979 (and have no plans to do so in the future) and I have never been to a cinema which has multi-screens. I had not heard of Amy Winehouse until she hit the headlines when she died.

On the up side I own a part share in a London "Routemaster" bus, can drive a steam locomotive, I play the drums quite well and the clarinet quite badly and have an encyclopaedic knowledge of the London Underground. So each to their own !!!
