Just read in the local paper that a 55-year-old woman from Linlithgow who defrauded £13,000 worth of benefits has been fined the exorbitant sum of £150.

She'll never do that again then?

i am amazed as it's often a custodial sentence. Perhaps there are mitigating circumstances, i.e young children, out of work husband, rent arrears, council tax arrears, well any excuse you could use..

Kero, when I said "She'll never do that again" it was meant to be heavily laden with sarcasm. I appreciate that this doesn't always come across as easily when posted on a site like this, but you have made my point exactly. For £13,000 she might forgo the odd bottle of Buckie or a pack of fags here and there.
