Some poor squaddie has died in a suspected suicide at Camp Bastion in Afghanistan and all the Mail can do is associate the incident with His Royal Harryness.

Hope the lad's parents/family don't mind their tragedy being gazumped by a cheap newspaper headline?

PS: Has His Royal Harryness actually been sighted anywhere near Camp Bastion yet? I'm sure he'd be only too happy to offer his condolences?

I completely agree with your point. It seems that the press will do anything at present to drag a royal connection into any story, particularly if they can come up with a "link" to either Catherine or Harry. I am pretty sure that it must annoy and upset the Royals as much as us but seems to be the price we pay for a "free" press. It's a pity that the media cannot grow up!
Agree with you about the Mail but that's because it knows it catches the public eye to mention Harry.
Don't know why you question Harry's presence at Bastion, he's actually in it. He may well offer condolences, that's not for us to know. Thoughts are with the family especially as historically suicide on active duty is not considered sympathetically.

JRB,
Point well made, but may I suggest that your final sentence will never come to fruition - unfortunately?
Question Author
Prudie,

Indeed, indeed. Yes, it would be very nice were Harry to offer his condolences - if he can ever be found?
What are you implying? You don't think he's actually there?
I do not normally *** off the Mail, but in this instance I do not thing they deserve it.

This is just normal padding out of a story. There are very few know facts other than two soldiers have killed themselves. So what the Mail have done is write a round up of the past week's events in Afghanistan. It is a collection of several stories (Harry being one of them) that have been in the news. None of it is related to the two dead soldiers.

When their names are know in a day or two, and other details emerge, then the Mail will write a proper news story.
Very few known facts
When there names are known...
Question Author
Prudie,

"implying" ? Gosh no, I wouldn't dare to be so disrespectful! I know my place!
im surprised they havent claimed its to do with the recent birth...
Prudie you seem to be wasting your breath. This idiot makes a valid point and then insists on putting barbs into his posts ie ///Indeed, indeed. Yes, it would be very nice were Harry to offer his condolences - IF HE CAN EVER BE FOUND? //

There was no need for that final few words. The poster is a moron.

The simple answer is that Kerosene is proving the earlier suspicion that he is indeed a troll.

I have given up exchanging comments with him; I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.
Does anyone seriously think that Prince Harry wants all the publicity surrounding his deployment to Afgahnistan? I'm sure he would prefer the situation during his previous deployment when all the Press knew but for his safety and the safety of his colleagues maintained a silence, until some bonehead in the USA (where else) broke the embargo.
Question Author
zebo,

Ah yes, I can still 'see' those contrived pictures of His Royal Harryness sitting at a heavy machine gun in some type of Bedouin tent and blasting away with nary a friend or foe in sight.

Why should Britain tremble? He's as much in Afghanistan as Ian Paisley's going to be next Pope. Sorry, Rev Paisley - no offence.
And you know this for a fact................how?
You don't expect a reply, do you craft?
Why the hell would he pretend to be there when last week many were blaming his presence for the attack on Bastion and the death of the 2 US marines?
Question Author
crafty!!!

You swore - metaphorically speaking mais oui - in another thread that you would not take part in one of mine - you little tease, you?

Oh, it was all a bluff, wasn't it? And there was me, the tears tripping me at your apparent desertion of me...yet here you are, gracing yet another of my threads?

I guess that's where a magnetic personality gets me? Every 'Kero basher' under the sun just can't resist coming onto Poster of the Century's threads, can you? Aaaahhhhh.....there's nice, see?

Yup, as Del Boy would say: "You know it makes sense!"

Hee hee hee......
