Thats awful. But dont understand why taken from Uk to Dublin. The Irish dog pounds are full of dogs including pedigree's waiting for the death sentence. In fact rescues like Many Tear in Wales are taking vans over to Ireland to save dogs from their death sentences and rehome in UK. Strange world we live in.

I don't understand it either. The only thing I can think of is that they were taken from N Ireland. The report does not say.
They must be saleable breeds. Not heard of this in Britain, but in France.

There they have had puppies being brought in from Eastern Europe. These are bred in puppy farms , provided with fake pedigrees and papers, and passed off in France as bred by a breeder.

France is not like here. There you see adverts in newspapers listing lots of breeds which the advertiser has available, and large pet supermarkets which always have puppies from at least half a dozen breeds, on sale at any one time. You always now what breeds are fashionable; and dogs are very much a fashion item there; from the changing lists. So there have been fads for shar-pei, whippets,shi-tzu, and so on, changing from year . And the Eastern Europe farmers meet the demand for whatever breed is this year's fashion.
Large pet supermarkets in France? Where are they?
Well there's one down the road from me, in Antibes, coccinelle, and I'm sure it's part of a chain.
The poor animals were destined to be sold, what else do you think.

Probably stolen in the UK.
None round here north of Paris FredPuli. What's it called?
They probably came from puppy farms in Northern Ireland and were destined for the Christmas market.
I thought all the puppy farms were in Wales.............
I imagine they were puppy farm dogs ready to be sold..... not the best environment to buy your puppy from cause they lack social skills, however, all that aside finding 50 puppies how cute could that possibly look. I go mad for just one puppy stick me in a room with 50, cutegasm.

The news now says there were thirty-six puppies.
They were packed in boxes, and some of them were between three and six weeks old. Some had mange, mites and eye infections.
The Gardai believe they may have come from puppy farms along the NI/RoI border.
Two men have been arrested.
Disgusting.
Awwww, annemollie, thats my illusions shattered. If people researched their puppies backgrounds then this wouldnt happen. However dogs do cost thousands so anything to save money I suppose.
coccinelle, the 'supermarket' was Mille Amis and is now Animalis. Animalis is a big chain. Their website, significantly, says its puppies are non LOF ( not French origin) or LOF but assures us that their puppies have travelled well.

Just googling 'chiots Antibes' brings up a surprising number of small ads and suppliers of puppies.
Yes, FredPuli I see there are 43 in France. Actually, one not very far from me but I never go in that area. Just never seen them before and never heard anyone mention them either. My friends seem to go to local breeders or the rescue kennels.
