They've been told that this is the land of milk and honey.
Well, if I lived there, I would like to come here. There are a few perks.

It cannot be the weather
Well, Germany is a strictly-regulated country, for one thing, whereas things in the UK are - shall we say - less so. Perhaps there are some migrants who do not like to be so much subject to official scrutiny.
they just love our endless benefits system, far better than most of the other nations in the EU. I would like to know where they are supposed to live, get jobs, and so on.
They come here because we give them things, free money, free NHS etc.
they do go to other countries, France has a massive immigration problem.
Well, they haven't actually arrived yet, these Bulgarians and Hungarians.
Maybe they will go somewhere else instead. They are the people one would need to ask, surely :-)
Germany also has plenty of immigrants. I was once in a town in norther Germany, with a (German) friend, and he said to me, "We have Turks like you have Pakistanis."
Do you really think Germany and Spain have no immigrants?

We only hear about the UK ones becuase we live in the UK.
It works the other way too - my Daughter, Son in law and children are currently in Germany - happy with their home, jobs and schooling.
Found this about Spain for example:

As of 2010, there were over 6 million foreign-born residents in Spain, corresponding to 14% of the total population. Of these, 4.1 million (8.9% of the total population) were born outside the European Union and 2.3 million (5.1%) were born in another EU Member State.
It's only natural that rich countries will attract poor people. They're showing initiative by getting up and moving to try and make a better life for themselves and their families.
Spain has indeed an immigrant population....Moroccans mainly. but on the plus side, Russians ans South Americans in the brothels.
Would a South American woman in a Spanish brothel not look remarkably like a native Senorita?
The NHS has to be high on the list. I have a complicated health condition and my experience of our NHS can not be praised enough.
France is full of Algerian immigrants who have been brought up with French as a second language

Germany has immigrants from Turkey - who've learned German

Britain has... well I'm sure you get the Picture

We are 9th in the league of immigrant percentage

Behind Germany and France and Saudi and Canada etc
sandy....LOL.....yes....but there is a marked difference in performance.
Half the year I live in France where I am an etranger (stranger).
The rest of the year I live in England where I feel like an etranger......
