There is no snow where I live but yet when I went to do my weekly shop there were idiots filling their trollies with basic essentials. Nothing left for me, I was just doing my normal Thursday night shop I hasten to add. I despair at how thick, stupid and selfish the general public are.

Bloomin' glad Im not at work today.

I work at the Co op and our bread delivery doesn't arrive till about 11 in morning, customers are already frothing at the mouth by then, imagine a centimeter of snow on the ground? ('cause that's all we got so far) They'll be fighting on the aisles!
Where do you live?
Where I am I wished I had bought a few bits last night as it is becoming risky to go out in the car now. It wasnt snowing at all last night. So I in a way envy those that took precautions!
Can no-one bake their own these days?

I haven't been and done any shopping and I am not planning to. If we are snowed in for a week, we won't starve.
Same for me dave50. Ok, I went a little earlier than usual just in case the snick began to stick but bought nothing extra, just my usual shop.
Hardly any bread left in Asda when I got there, same with the milk and lots of overflowing trolleys.
If my part of the world turns decidedly Arctic I'm sure I'll make it to the local Spar for essential provisions some 50 metres away.
I sold my breadmaker Barmaid, couldn't get hang of it. I'm a bit of philistine, i much prefer a nice Warburtons loaf, lol.
No way Im going out today !! I dont think we will starve even if we have some mixed up concoctions
Snick? Snow even! Bloody iPod and its predictive text!
the snow was supposed to hit the western side of the uk, mainly parts of northern ireland, wales, the midlands and the south west. its snowing quite heavily in birmingham at the moment
Mmmmm, think I may go and panic buy a snow shovel.
Doesn't seem to be any candles or paraffin oil lamps available anywhere.
It's ridiculous.
lots of snow here on the south coast near brighton...i agree people panic buying are selfish morons!!!
no point in waiting until it's snowing to stock up, is there? Doing it before the snow comes is normally called "planning" rather than "thick".

I can smell the smell of freshly baked bread coming from the kitchen as I type.

My wife has had a bread-maker for years, and we wouldn't do without one, the secret is strong bread flour and the correct dried yeast.
We could survive from our store cupboard and freezer for a good couple of weeks without any problems. Agree with Barmaid. Its ridiculous.
I haven't been shopping yet but there is a Londis just over the road, we'll survive.
AOG. Couldn't be without my breadmaker either. Agree with your comments, but the make of breadmaker does make a difference too. Some are not good. Swear by Panasonic.

(I left you a message on the long immigration thread ;o) )
I spoke to a lady only the other day, and she said that she wouldn't have to go out shopping because she still had plenty left from her Christmas 'panic buying'??????????????
