Who should we believe, someone that actually lives in Boston, and who has person experience of the problem, or some Cambridge University classics professor?

“…what would happen if the Poles and other Eastern European workers suddenly stopped coming over to do the menial work that we won't do? “ We could then point out to those who “will not do” the menial work that jobs are available and they can either get out of bed in the morning to do them or face having their benefits stopped. The students to which sp...

Although drunkenness and crime does stretch resources, without mass immigration, which must necessarily add to the social burden, those resources would be far less stretched. Having said that, the issue is not drunkenness or crime, and I think we should stick to the subject.
Jake, //I wonder if they'd refuse to be treated by doctors not born in the UK//
There’s no reason why anyone should refuse to be treated by a foreign doctor, but I believe that we should shut our doors to anyone who cannot support and house himself and his dependants.
NJ, I agree with everything you’ve said.

as i do Naomi, voice of sense and reason, we are not all rabid racists as some seem to think, but are concerned that the resources are being stretched to the max, without sufficient funds to keep it all rolling along nicely. As to the school situation, my friend has said exactly the same, that it is difficult, that they have to employ people to translate for the new kids, this is not by the way in the capital, but in the sticks. Putting pressure on their limited resources.

Please remember what we were talking about.
Police resources.
And as I said before. Drugged up, drunken violent Britons take up FAR more police (and A&E) time than gang-related violence.
I have seen many documentaries and have the wisdom of my copper mates to back this up.
"If we didn't have to spend so much time looking after girls who have drunk the equivalent of a litre of vodka and lads who are choking on their own vomit, or girls who think its fine to urinate in shop doorways, we could get on with real police work".
Think about it...over 100 nights per years, every year with forces all over the country trying to tame these people.
Operation Trident.
You have to be kidding.
And yes - the problem 'pales into insignificance compared to gun crime' which is why it's so disgusting that the police have to devote so much time to it.
Don't you agree?

SP, //Not all people who express concern about i migrations racist.
Some of them are though.//
Yes some are, but I suspect fewer than you imagine - and also bear in mind that we’re not talking about colour here. These are Bulgarians and Romanians - white. People, and not only indigenous Brits, but also those who have settled and made lives here for themselves and their families over the past 60 years or so, are concerned about the seemingly uncontrolled influx of foreign migrants into this country and the burden that is placing upon resources - and understandably so.

/// Seriously though, what I'd like to know is this: out of all of AB's resident immigrant haters, I wonder how many have actually spent any time in some of the countries they come from and seen first hand what living conditions/political situations they are

Not our problem, we have enough problems of our own, without adding to them.

I posted earlier in response to VHG's post concerning uninsured drivers. I stated that if the police resources weren't stretched having to play nursemaid to drunken disgusting louts 104 days a year perhaps they could devote more time to hunts down and prosecuting uninsured drivers.
You then mentioned Operation Trident and gang-related violence, which doesn't take up nearly as much police resources, because in terms of manpower, gang violence results in far fewer arrests than public order offences.
Quite straightforward really.

/// I agree em10 but in AOG's case he does post rather a lot of potentially inflammatory stuff sourced mostly from a particularly insidious newspaper, so I don't think it's unreasonable for him to accept a few scathing responses. ///
And don't you just love it, 76 posts so far, which would you rather have subjects that create widespread debate or posts on the price of vegetables, attracting perhaps 3 posts max?
But in my case some just cannot put up a good argument, instead they constantly choose to dish out personal abuse against the bringer of news, yet very really go to the bother of introducing threads of their own choice.
Yes it is so easy to criticise and abuse, rather than put up an intelligent and constructive argument, perhaps that is why they chose to do the former?
