Perhaps whites should also be offended, seeing that the white character dolls are offensive to present day white people?

/// Najee Ali, director of the Los Angeles civil rights group Project Islamic Hope, said he and other figures in the black community were 'outraged' to hear of the action figures and said they were 'a slap in the face of our ancestors'. ///

Well what would you think of holocaust dolls?

Very thin dolls with hook noses and tatooed numbers on their wrists and concentration camp uniforms

They could come in boxes that doubled up as showers!

Would that be offensive?

Would baz give a monkeys about that?

How about Bridge over the river Kwai action figures with British POWs in a similar vein?

Or would that be different?
he might be a hero if Tarantino made a film about him, woofgang; and he hasn't shrunk from mythologising killers before. People would protest, of course, but people always protest about his films; and Hollywood's enver bothered about protests from Britain either.
why would anyone buy them at any rate, it seems perverse that Tarantino would either allow them to be made, or that they would be made at all for any film, irrespective of the nature of the film, it's barmy.
You would buy a doll for a child, to play with, what are they supposed to be for, collectors items?
almost certainly, em, yes, collectors' items.
what part of dont like dont buy do you not understand ?...I'm guessing all of it
odd and perverse if so.
How about action terrorists Baz with their own burnable poppies

Don't like don't buy?
ever since Star Wars, merchandising has provided film studios with a substantial extra income. I expect little boys who bought Darth Vader dolls grew up to buy Tarantino slave dolls.

I think you might have hit the nail on the head.

Perhaps these shouldn't be referred to as 'dolls'. Rather they're collectible figures (the kind that fans never take out of their boxes).

Normally, though these would be figures from sci-fi or fantasy films. I wouldn't have expected the same for Django.
JTP makes a rather good point at 13:41.

How would we feel about a range of 'Schindler's List' dolls?

You could have the Liam Neeson character, and Ralph Fiennes in a Nazi uniform, and then a shoebox full of very thin dolls which you could stencil with numbers to represent their tattoos.

What about an shoebox sized gas chamber?
I find it ironic since many of the slave traders were themselves black and to this day Islamic North Africans still trade in Black slaves,in Mauritania for example.
Many workers in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states are no better off than slaves.
At least Britain abolished slavery in the 1800's and it may be worth noting many white people were forced to work the plantations in the Caribbean as well as the coal mines, mills and Ironworks etc back in the UK during Victorian times.
Some folks like to stir up hatred and mistrust..The past is the past you can't change it...Pointless to keep banging on about it.
Time to remove chips from shoulders I reckon!

I'm off to the footie to shout at some blokes from another part of town.
Boing Boing!
What if we could buy little scowling AOG dolls, then kids could put them in lego models of housing estates mostly populated by little lego Asians, that could be fun!
Nope.

Those who do not learn from the past make the same mistakes in the future.

Also, saying that a number of slave traders were black does not in any way reduce the guilt of white slave traders.

Fact is (as the opium wars testifies), some Britons were absolutely evil. Thankfully, the great achievements of their contemporaries overshadows their wrong-doing.

/// Dolls of slaves? ///

/// What a brilliant idea. Perhaps one could complete the set with a small plastic tree so kids can play 'hang the n....r'. ///

Dolls of African explorers?

What a brilliant idea, perhaps we could also have plastic cooking pots, so the kids can put the explorers in?

No sounds very repulsive as well as offensive that way round, so are things any different?
I think you'll find cooking pots were imaginary and lynching wasn't.

/// You know - some of your forefathers were evil scum who partook in the rape and murder of black slaves. ///

And your forefathers were Squeaky clean I suppose?

Make sure they have the same skin colour as you or you could find yourself in trouble.

Now there's a surprise answer, I don't think.

Seeing that those who sold the slaves to the whites were black, couldn't we also condemn them also.

Is a person that makes a living out of selling drugs, even more guilty than the person that buys them for their own use?

Level playing field and all that.
AOG

You're kidding about the cooking pots right?

Seriously - did ou go to school in The Beano?

And why did you ignore my comment after I referred to some of your forefathers being scum?

I was merely pointing out that some of your forefathers were pretty rotten characters, but their misdeeds were overshadowed by decent, inventive hardworking Britons.

You engaging in selective comprehension.

Of ourselves some of my forefathers were rotten. No nation is squeaky clean. But we're talking about slave owners and those who raped and murdered black people. That's the subject.

Would you not agree that they were scum?
