as regular AB'ers will know, i am not one for mollycoddling - for me, I am delighted to look after family members, but right now, i am seriously suffering.

I had preparatory root canal surgery a couple of weeks before Christmas, with a temporary dressing applied. Nice - an hour and forty minutes, and £85 to have occasional shots of TCP flavour shoot into my mouth without warning!

Yesterday, phase two - £135 for completion - went home, went to bed feeling dreadful.

This morning, woke up, went to bathroom, threw up - nothing in stomach, so went through the motions - if you catch my meaning.

Had one weetabix and cuppa, came to work. Tooth started seriously hurting. Threw up again - still nothing of course.

Had some soluable Solpadine to relieve pain - threw that up ten minutes later, compete with hot / cold feeling, sweats, blurred vision, unable to stand, sat on floor of stall moaning for ten minutes.

I am now starving hungry, and my tooth is pulsating in time to my heartbeat - total agony. i have had some paracetamol, am waiting for then to either affect or eject!

I feel really really miserable!!!!!

I think you need to go back to the dentist. Doesnt sound right.
Well you have my sympathy, I hope you get better soon.
I've had as many root canals as Venice (and with a couple of them the anaesthetic hasn't worked!) but I've not anything like that sort of postoperative effect. I can't exactly see why dental surgery should make you sick. Are you sure it isn't something else (manflu maybe)? Take whatever you can keep down for the pain, and you have my total sympathy, but I wonder if it's just the tooth?
Yes, but at least you've got all those cd's to listen to..........Sorry, I'm mixing you up with another ABer!
so sorry Andy, it sounds to me like you might have norovirus on top of the painful tooth. GO HOME AND GO TO BED. take sips of room temperature water. a warm or cold compress on your cheek might assist with the pain, its also worth phoning the dentist to ask for advice.
doesn't sound right at all, are you sure the medication isn't making you sick?
I hear a lot about root canals, nothing ever good! I hope you are feeling better soon andy, you have my sympathy x
I think you may have developed a systemic infection from the infection in your tooth. Get to your GP as soon as poss you may need antibiotics.
Hope you feel better soon, toothache is worse than childbirth!
Andy....this is not you. Get some advice while surgeries are still open. xx
Why post in Chatterbank?
as one who ended up in A&E with a severe abscess can totally sympathise, go to doctors to help you.
Sounds like you have an NHS dentist. Can't get one round here.......my dentist charged me £400 for root canal work.
Sqad, he's just asking for sympathy, which is a CB speciality; it's only others who are suggesting he could do with medical advice too
I take it your dentist also told you that there was no guarantee root canal treatment would solve your problem, andy?
jno...aaargh! right.

andy......you have my sympathy.
Here you go, andy...

Get well soon!
well, whaddya think, Sqad: toothache or plague or both?
you have my sympathy andy but do suggest you take advice others have offered. xx ()
Not like you at all to complain. Can you not give your dentist a phone call??
you have either got a sickness virus, andyhughes or there was an infection in your tooth canal when he put the final filling in. The dentist should have xrayed the tooth before applying final filling in the canal.

(Can't you tell I have had a few canals done). I have never experienced anything like you are having andy. I would phone the Dentist.
