Here we have a loyal soldier of 13 years, who has served in Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia, and Northern Ireland, and just because he got into a fight with a fellow soldier which led to internal punishment and a criminal record, he was refused citizenship.
Yet how many times have we been unsuccessful in sending foreign criminals back from whence they came, even after they have been released from prison after having committed the most heinous crimes?
This couple should be granted compensation, to reimburse them for the money they have spent fighting their case.

From what I read to stop his deportation he has tried belatedly to apply for citizenship because of his new criminal record. If that is the case why can't he continue to live here with his family but forego the citizenship clause. Surely we can't kick him out now after the years spent in helping this country.

/// being a soldier does not make someone a good person - in fact ot makes them all the more dangerous - there are a lot of stories of soldiers committing terrible acts of violence, rape
etc. ///
As well as there are many more non-soldiers committing terrible acts of violence, rape etc.
So all soldiers are dangerous eh, isn't Prince Harry also a soldier? you talk a load of tripe.
Would you suggest that we chuck everyone out of the country who have been involved in a fight?
This chap has served his adopted country, and should be allowed to stay, which incidentally he now can.
Couldn't be the colour of his skin that you have problems with?

Something strange here , we are not being told the whole story , soldiers are being charged and punished for minor breaches of regulations all the time.
If, as claimed, it was dealt with within the unit, then any record of it would have remained within the army and never entered the public domain. What is more these internal events were never called ' criminal ' , if they were, just about every ex-serviceman would have a criminal record. Even court martial offences are not usually criminal in a civilian sense.

hahaha! oh you are ridiculous aog!
you really need to learn to read better if thats the drivel you got from my post!
and after you have learned to read, learn to comprehend what is written.
so now i've said ALL soldiers are dangerous?!
really? is that what i said AOG?
no it isnt and you know it.
i was noting that just because someone is a soldier does not mean they should be absolved of all crimes, nor does it mean they are model citizens.
i dont believe this is just about a punch in the mouth.
for this to be so serious an issue, it must have been much worse than a bit of a scuffle - and the fact is - we dont know the facts, so looking at it so simplistically - as you are doing - does not help.
i also said quite clearly that i thought he should be allowed to stay - which you would have seen if you had read it properly...
and as for the colour of skin, i have no idea what the colour of his skin is!
and the reason i dont know, is because its irrelevant and i havent bothered to seek out that information.
what a pathetic, lazy and desperate thing to say ... which i might add does nothing to enhance your opinion.
its you that is forever harping on about 'savages' and the like
you make me laugh.
