Initially a few might be sent as 'trainers'. Where have we heard that before?

I cannot believe we are even think about getting involved here. Just let the Frogs do it. Lease them any kit they need.
Last week someone in government said that there would be no British troops on the ground. Can't see how they can train them without being there.
Please tell me if I am wrong, but I sense another "Falkland's" situation brewing.Let's win a little war before an election. This approach by a certain Mrs Thatcher succeeded in saving the Tory Party which found itself to be very unpopular toward's the end of it's first term in office.
Training role now.............mission creep............body bags.
This is not remotely comparable to Falklands situation.
The Faulklands is British territoty. Mali is not.

The same was said of Blair and his exploits, if you are trying to make an anti Thatcher post make sure you balance your post.
rather a familiar story i am afraid, one that is unlikely to have a good outcome for our troops.
Seems like France although Bankrupt can find the money to take part in this costly adventure.

And isn't it strange that the UK can also find the cash to support them?

I thought that there was an enormous hole in our Defence budget, hence all the cuts and redundancies, but then what do we see Cameron dishing out millions to aid the French.

Funny where these politicians get the money from when the need arises.
perhaps he thinks that if he lashes out the money, troops now, then that might negate having to do it on much bigger scale later on... who knows.
What help can be expected from the immensely rich nations, Saudi Arabia, etc? They could afford a little charity, benevolence and goodwill, but their indifference remains all too obvious. Meanwhile little Britain destitutes herself by pouring aid into Africa. Enough is enough.
Why does Britain rush in to compete against her weight? We constantly get involved whilst reducing the numbers of our fighting forces and the money to support them. Is the idea to completely strip our defences leaving us open to invasion by the EU?
We are supposedly part of a European Union, do we not have an EU force to sort out all these skirmishes, where are Germany and the other countries, why is it always Britain that is in the forefront?
