As expected. Cos he's a Cabinet minister, Huhne gets light sentence of 8 months. Probably serve 4 months.

Also possible 10% reduction from sentence 'cos he pleaded guilty. Huh - he repeatedly denied it and didn't plead guilty till the end. Pity he wasn't given 4 years.

Damned disgraceful verdict.

sir.prize He's going to Wandsworth prison -its not a holiday camp -bet you couldn't stand 4 hours in there let alone 4 months.
What a joke, she got same. They will do 2 months!
Will he be sectioned off for his own protection? Can't imagine he'll have an easy time of it in there.

Idiot should have just taken the points in the first place.
for maybe two or 3 nights, magsmay, and then open prison.
I don;t think his former status has any bearing - he is getting the rate for the offence, with individual circomstances around the case taken into account.

It's the wider impact that will really hurt - his political career is shafted and that is something that will stick with him a lot longer.

Congats to jack, managing to get 'pyrrhic' and 'hubris' the same sentence earlier!
Much as the length of sentence disgusts me, it is within the parameters f the sentencing rules as stated below,

http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/s_to_u/sentencing_manual/perverting_the_course_of_justice/

i.e Sentencing Range: 4 months to 36 months
judge said he will do half the eight months, that isn't two..
not sure about her, i know she got eight months so would expect the same as the ex
He'll be in single cell then open prison before long. Remember Archer, got 12months served 12 weeks!!!
agree about hubris, foolish beyond words, both of them
It's the same with any sentence handed out. The criminal never does the full time. IMO, if you are given 8 months, you should serve 8 months. None of this good behaviour rubbish. You should have practised good behaviour in the first place.
Considered opinion is that they are most likely to serve half of their sentence, ie 4 months, plus pay an awful lot of money in costs.

Justice has been seen to be done, so can we talk about something else please ? I for one am sick and tired of seeing their their bloody faces on the TV news every time I switch on.

Of course we have Rebekah Brooks, et all, to look forward to later this year....can't wait !

Magsmay - you are probably correct. Wandsworth or any other prison would not suit me; however I wouldn't be stupid enough to pervert the course of justice. Neither would I 'farm' out any motoring points.
According to the news they will probably serve 6 weeks in prison before being moved to possibly an open prison.
Kat, not so, unless you don't consider open prison, prison..

Remember Huhne referring to Lib Dem leader as 'Calamity Clegg'.

Touche 'Calamity Chris'.

Plonker.
the judge words were he would do half the eight months, if that doesn't happen then why would be make a point of saying it...
they have form...
Length of sentence aside there is no feeling in the world like having your liberty taken away from you.
Those 6 weeks will be tough.
maybe so, then again why not take the damn points, the dingbat, ruined career, off to jail...

Laughable. Police chief outside court says that perverting the course of justice is a very serious criminal offence.

Wow. 8 months for a very serious criminal offence eh!

Laughable again.
