In one of the news threads a couple of you have said you want to go on the organ donor register but have not yet done so.
It takes two minutes to register on line. Do something amazing and sign up now.

Good man excelsior
me too - although not sure much will be left in good working order by the time I pop my clogs!

rsvp (and this applies to everyone) - I sincerely hope you live a very long healthy life....but everyone should be on the donor register......just in case...
Well that was rather quicker than expected. Thanks for the link!
Although I am on it I don't trust they will actually take my organs.

I cannot remember where I saw it so, sorry no link, but I did read that they are very picky about organ donation and at the time I read it, they wouldn't take the organs from people unless they had been layn in hospital being kept alive in the rigth way.

There is, apparently, enough organ donors they just don't harvest them. camapign for more donors but also campaign for them to harvest from the people already registered.

jim - well done - give yourself a pat on the back
I'm on the register. I always carried a donor card but I registered when I started giving blood.
Question Author
cassa, I have to disagree with you. There are not enough organ donors.
Many who are donors do not have their organs taken for many reasons, the main two being
1. Death from cancer
2. Relatives refusing to honour the deceased persons wishes
im already registered

I'm on. They can have what they want, though I doubt they'll use my liver. :)
We will have to agree to disagree them Mrs O :)

Well done to those of you already on the list
Question Author
No problem cassa.
Well I think they most definitely should have an opt out system. Our children's generation shouldn't have to be asked, it should be the norm, unless you've opted out.
Question Author
As has been said on the news thread I was referring to, the problem is with the opt out system, the group that objects most of all to the idea is Muslims.
Ethnic donors are already in short supply.
I am on it...I got my son to be one as well...I think everyone should be one.
I am a registered donor- have been for a long time.

As the prvious thread and Mrs-O suggested, it is true that those most vocal in opposing any change in the law regarding organ donation, and those least represented as donors are the more fundamental religious organisations- but many would appear to be perfectly happy to receive an organ if needed. That seems more than a little hypocritical, to me.

If you would be willing to accept an organ to save your life, then you should be prepared to donate an organ in the event of your own death.....
What about Jehovahs Witnesses...what is their take on this subjest?????
