For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.It is a laudable aim, and an ambitious one, too. I think the % of adults who smoke in Scotland is roughly 25%, so to achieve a target of 5% of less by 2034 is going some.
Whether they achieve it or not will depend very much on how much smokers are willing to sacrifice in order to continue to smoke - I would imagine that rules about where it is acceptable to smoke will become more restrictive, and the price will continue to increase.
I am very glad I gave up. The amount of money i have saved is huge, and even more now. I was in the newsagents the other day - a pack of 20 B/H is £8! I gave up when they were £5 a pack and thought it extortionate then.
Assuming a pack a day, thats £56 a week, or £3K a year as near as dammit.
