Oxford Man To Turn His Back On Funeral
62 Answers
An Oxford student plans a protest of getting people to turn their backs on Lady Thatcher's cortege. The Mail sees this as "disrupting". Do you? Should it be stopped? Should he not live in a £700,000 house?

I do wish people wouldn't be so disrespectful - and anyway, if he really understood Thatcher he's probably realise that the ultimate way of disrespecting her is to not turn up. To ignore her Looks to me like she hated that far more than anyone who disagreed with her shouting about it.

Yes, BayBoy, Cameron was 13 when she came to power and 23 when she left power. Old enough to have seen enough, don't you think? And Ed Milliband was born in 1969; he was about 10 when she came in and 21 when she left. That's the trouble when you get these youngsters in power; all they've got is blind ignorance and prejudice :) Thank goodness, there's nobody like that on AB
I think it's actually quite a respectful way of voicing his opinion. It's quiet, non disruptive and to the point. He's entitled to live in a £7million house if he so desires, it doesn't mean he has to agree with the government wasting millions of pounds on Margaret Thatcher's funeral whilst at the same time trying to force thousands of disabled people back to work via ATOS and cutting money spent on the NHS. I personally have no problem with this, I'm more worried that people's anger will seriously boil over into extreme violence, as apart from on this site locally ( and we live in a rural 'middle class' area) I've heard nothing but disgust voiced locally about the level of money being spent, so goodness knows what the feeling is in the defunct mining communities etc.
the money is mere bagatelle
we waste around £53million every single day thrown into the eussr bottomless pit.
god knows how much we throw away on foreign aid etc etc etc
and people are harping on about a mere £10million...what you think it would be noticed if it wasnt spent for the funeral, dream on
