Many have criticised the fact that Baroness Thatcher is to receive a Military Procession funeral, I wonder what the reaction would have been if she had also been further honoured by having her image on a postage stamp, at least she would have been more fitting alongside other British famous faces, than a Mr John Archer?

/// I'm surprised that someone who take such an interest in news, and especially news about gay issues (judging by your posts this year) doesn't know the name Justin Fashanu. ///
The post this year have been mainly regarding Gay marriages, and this being a widespread item for discussion, does not necessarily make one interested in Gay issues, we generally leave that up to yourself.

/// So presumably we'll stop hearing all this stuff about Margaret Thatcher being Britains first Woman Prime-Minister because that's treating her differently because of her gender? ///
No it is what you have chosen to read into it, if you read it properly I was merely criticising the need to always state the first 'Black' this or that, when others are not shown the same importance.

Also (and I will be really impressed if you can come up with an answer to this), you have lead the field in raising questions on gay issues. Far more than anyone else on AB.

So, I put it to you again...with such a wide-ranging interest in all matters gay, how could you not know who Justin Fashanu is?

One of your more ridiculous threads AoG.
Thatcher does not have a birth anniversary in 2013 - and you didn't need to read Gromit's link to find out that was the criteria, it's in your own one. So either you didn't read that part, didn't understand it, or just decided to ignore it anyway.
Thatcher has already had commemorative stamps issued in the Falklands, and it's almost certain that she'll have one on the anniversary of her birth (which if I'm not mistaken would be in 2015).
I had heard of John Archer, but I'm not sure if I'd actually seen a picture of him before now. Mary Leaky and Norman Parkinson aren't people I recognised, though, and while I was aware of Elizabeth David I probably wouldn't have been able to place her face. Archer does, however, share a birth anniversary with the others and is thus entirely eligible. I don't know what you're complaining about.
