i wonder whether anyone likes this type of modern design, or would you go for the more traditional type grand house, that is if you won that much money.

to be honest, from the outside it looks like an alien creature has landed. personally I would go for a more traditional house but it would have to have an integrated swimming pool and be very close to a sandy beach on the English coast.

goodsoul, exactly... x i would rather a nice country home, 3/4 bedrooms, decent country style kitchen, wood burning stove, and lots of land for the animal sanctuary.
It would not be my dream, I would much prefer an old place with beams and character.

perhaps because it spread out quite a lot if you look.
What an utter monstrosity. Just goes to show that just because you have money it doesn't necessarily follow that you have taste.

I'm sure there are far more aesthetically pleasing eco-friendly house styles out there.

i watched just a smidgen of Grand Designs yesterday and though the couple's house was modern it was truly beautiful, inside and out. No idea how much it cost but it must have been a small fortune.
Also, I'd have to say that if I was spending £5 million on a house, I'd choose somewhere a tad more exotic (and less temperate) than Nottingham!

perhaps they come from there, i didn't look... however there are some nice places in and around Suffolk, Norfolk that would take my fancy first, as much as i love Cornwall which would be my first choice, it's already too crowded...
No-brainer for me, I'd set up home in the south of France.
Question Author
i would buy somewhere here most definitely. Then a longish holiday, perhaps to see friends in Australia and New Zealand.
