Does Anyone Seriously Want This Man As A Councillor?

Just read an article regarding councillor John Cherry's remarks about Pakistani school children and find myself amazed that anyone with views like this is in his position in the first place. Are this man's ideas so out of touch with reality or does anyone really think it's okay to hold opinions like this based purely on someone's nationality and the fact they live in a 'coloured area'? Should he stand down or be removed from office?

His remarks about study and success may well be right, based on some nationalities' study ethics - but what's all that about the sexual volcano? people from the backgrounds he describes are usually less likely, due to religious and family upbringings, to suddenly start putting it about. IMO.

I couldn't in my wildest dreams understand what he was referring to with the 'sexual volcano' remark. Makes you wonder if he's ever actually met any Asian people since he doesn't come from a 'coloured area'.

The problem with our democracy is that nowhere near enough people really can be bothered to stand for election. That's backed up by our habit of voting for party rather than individual. Indeed, most people vote for party leader rather than taking any notice of who the prospective MP or councillor is.

There are no end of extremists on our local and county councils, both of the right and the left. I'm sure some of us can remember the GLC of the early 1980s or Westminster City Council at roughly the same time. Both examples of a dreadful type extremism.

some people argue that the behaviour of Muslim males is traceable to lack of sexual opportunity (at worst, older males are marrying four women and drastically reducing the dating pool; even at best, young Muslim women don't put it about, as boxtops says). They release their frustration by mistreating white women, or by turing to violent extremism.

I have no idea if this is true, but it may be what he was getting at.

It was a question if you read it Bazwillrun. I just hate sweeping generalisations about huge groups of people- like if I said 'oh Bazwillrun is a Nazi, he must be because a lot of people with views like his are'. Is that right? Probably not. It's just silly and not helpful. So let me rephrase the question a little for you, you'd be happy with this chap as your councillor, would you?

Regarding the "sexual volcano" (mind boggles I must say). I was once told a few years ago by a seriously minded black guy, that the aim of most young black guys living in this country was to "dilute the white race". Now make of that what you will (I can't think why myself) ...but that was what was said...whether in jest or faith I don't know but if it was the case, then this guy might have got wind of it - hmmm.

But surely, assuming this plot to dilute the white race is real which I don't really think it can be as every black man would have to have been at a meeting where someone suggested ' Hey why don't we dilute the whole white race' and decided to do it, which seems a bit unlikely to me, then wouldn't they also be 'diluting' their own black race? So like Sandy says we'd just end up with 'coffee coloured people by the score' ( which actually would stop all the race bickering)xx

first off it wouldn't stop the bickering, because black people argue, fight with other black people, for some it's to do with how dark your skin in, lighter skin black people valued more than dark black, and don't blame me for this, blame those who do it, and yes i do know. And if you think only prejudice and hatred applies to white folk, who are not actually white then sorry think again. Our skin colour should be an irrelevance, for some it isn't, whether you are black, white, brown, pink, or green.
I believe the councillor has stood down.

You are right em, and rightly say that skin colour shouldn't matter but to some it does unfortunately and they aren't always white who are racist or are purported to be. It's a shame we can't all get along together whoever and whatever we are...sad world but nothing changes more's the pity.

Not everyone is a right-on liberal, in fact the majority are not. there may well be laws to force people to think in the right-on liberal way but that in itself does not make it happen. Only time and education will really work. but the right-on crowd want it now.

I would suggest that those slating him may also be out of touch.

I have no problems with any race or culture except Islam. Having worked in a multicultural environment for many years I have had in depth discussions with muslims - they all had the same mindset - populate this country and hopefully it will eventually become Islamic - not in the near future but eventually.

Brenden, i totally agree. I couldn't give a monkey's what skin colour the person is. If they have an agenda, to tell people how to behave, what to wear, and what to think, then i do have a problem with that.
