What this dumb blonde also failed to realise with her post is that NOBODY in the UK pays road tax.

I hope the Police prosecute to the letter of the law.

If it helps maintain the safety of cyclists and helps motorists think at junctions MadMen, so be it.
Absolutely, chill! :)
If you did that to me Mamya I might end up in A&E but you'd end up in prison.
Lol Mojo :) If Mamya wasn't a pensioner, I would have said the same thing....

kind of ;)
In the car trade Excise Duty on cars is also known as Road Fund Licence; so it is easy to see why people would respond they do. Other than than, the dumbest blonde in Britain should have her vehicle crushed, and receive a ban for driving till she is 70.
My laptop is playing up again, doing its wierd stuff...

that should read, if you have not guessed, "respond the way they do" (where that part went, I am almost frightened of wanting to know), and "Other than that" (and that part is probably in some time machine).
Dont be pedantic....everybody calls it the Road Tax, as in "My Road tax is due next week".

People say they are taking their car for an "MOT" but that stand for Ministry of Transport. It is actually an "MOT Test" but we don't criticize people who just call it an MOT.

Same as people call it a Hoover when it is a vacuum cleaner, or a Biro when it is a ball point pen.

So we all know what she means by "Road Tax" so no need to be so high and mighty about it.

Call it what you like VHG, it's officially not Road Tax.
Quite presumptuous of her to believe too that the cyclist didn't pay 'Road Tax'.
Plenty of us though do pay Vehicle Excise Duty and also ride a bicycle.

Forgot to add, I and most people I know refer to it as 'Car Tax' not road tax.
Actually, I was being glib!

Too much info is not always a good thing, methyl: it presupposes that you consider the rest of a stupid.

what the motorist did was stupid beyond words, and i do hope she is caught and punished. Having said that cycling on the pavement is illegal, please note, illegal. Those who do it are breaking the law, every bit as much as this stupid motorist, it's become a bane of pedestrians lives here, same as riding over red lights which many do.
Begging to differ with your 02:09 methyl. Those of us who are in a position to fall into the clutches of VOSA at the roadside have a catchy name for them alright.
Especially those eager beavers in the Scunthorpe branch.
none of the reports in any media outlet featuring this event are more recent than 14h30 yesterday, and nearly all finish with a line stating that police have spoken to both parties.

thus we can assume that's the last we'll ever hear of this, and the miscreant driver involved will not face any action.
i am surprised at that, having witnessed pedestrian v cyclist war of words or punches thrown endless times, one just the other day, both were at fault, neither looking where they were going, lots of swearing from both parties, had the pedestrian been elderly he would have been seriously hurt, as it was the bloke ended up sprawled on the pavement.
We carry pebbles when horse riding, for cars that spook the horses.

We blame the horses for kicking them up ;)
