Has anyone found a report of this in any other paper?

I only became aware of this protest because it was 'liked' by a friend of mine on Facebook:

http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/local-national/uk/thousands-of-muslims-gather-in-london-to-condemn-murder-of-soldier-lee-rigby-29294815.html

5,000 seems like a fairly decent number...so I can't understand why it wasn't deemed news-worthy. The EDL reaction received media attention, but with far less numbers.

then why in all that is sacred, and not much is, is this always about Muslims, and how the white British are to supposed to hate them, so in our multi cultural diverse landscape there are others who don't care for each other, rub along so to speak. don't we all effectively do that, i don't like one of my neighbours, he is a Muslim, but that isn't the reason, he is just a T&&t.
"Complete silence from Baz Git et all (no surprise there).
Heartwarming story btw. "

"heartwarming story" now that is funny, 5k out of what, approx 1.3million, haha

get a life, youre a very sad little leftie
what, you think i sit here all day long like you hanging on every thread, yeah right
Pfffttt..
If you dont have an off-shore bolt hole, you have to be law abiding or else.
It doesn't suit most agendas to print it. Newspapers on the whole have to sell to an audience, and at the moment outrage sells more.

There's been quite a high police presence there over the last few days as there have been a fair few threats to burn it down.

Alas, I think the threat from Muslim extremists will exist as long as we in the West rely on oil. From the Russian invasion of Afghanistan onwards, our economic interests have been compromised by the instability of the Middle East. Our governments would like nothing more than a stable democratic Middle East, but...well...can of worms...
I enjoyed watching the "poacher turned gamekeeper" former Muslim extremist on this week's Question Time. Had a lot of good points and probably understands the problem greater than most.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maajid_Nawaz
sp, you mean as long as Britain keeps pandering to hate preachers, in the mosques, on the streets, free speech is one thing, but some advocate death and destruction on the west, their ideologies on women's rights doesn't sit well with Britain, nor its stance on gays, and for that they should, if not British citizens be deported with a persona non grata label stuck to them, figuratively speaking. Peter Tatchell spoke well the other evening, on channel 4 i think it was, i know he has been on tv many times recently, but his point about Islam was well put, that many are anti gay, and do not advocate women's rights were just some of his arguments.
I am also well aware of the poacher turned gamekeeper, the Muslim chap who now advocates to fight these extremists in whatever way possible. sorry can't remember his name but he has also been on tv any number of times, notably last evening also on channel 4.
We are also seeing the stupid backlash of those who feel they are being marginalised by our governments, the likes of the EDL and BNP, who have their own extremists views, the police and security should be dealing with them in the same way.
Maajid_Nawaz, must be the same guy, good speaker, and puts many valid points.

/// labelling all white British as racist, Muslim hating, stretch too far wouldn't you say. ///

When has that ever bothered some, except when the positions are reversed?

You really are an offensive little nurk aren't you.

"What, you think i sit here all day long like you hanging on every thread, yeah right"
...well here you are, QED.
and i am honestly outraged that some universities are allowing segregation of the sexes, because it is not conducive to one culture, religion, to have the sexes mixed, so the women have to sit at the back of the hall. where do they get off telling anyone that should happen. The schools, universities should stamp on any person or group who try to pull that nonsense. It's taken a very long time for women to get a decent education, to be accepted in higher education, university, and equal rights in law, let us not accept this Neanderthal thinking that women are inferior in any facet of life.
I think some universities are actively combatting that, Em.

how did it ever come about that one small section of the establishment, would ask for and get this concession, it's a damn disgrace. If the educational system doesn't start off as it means to carry on and actively ban these people, tell them straight, if you want to learn, get involved in debates, then segregation as proposed is not allowed. If some uni's are doing this then good, but why would anyone think it acceptable.
that was one case i remember, Reading was in the news more recently.
//why would anyone think it acceptable. //

Most people don't - but unfortunately for many Muslims it's a way of life. And I agree with you. If people want to attend university, they must be prepared to integrate.
Naomi i wholeheartedly agree, i can't even understand schools for separate faiths, why don't they just have one school of all people, faiths, and if they want to practice whichever religion, they can do so at their respective establishments, like synagogue, mosque, church.
Personally, I think faith schools should be abolished.
so do i, i went to a church school, which i actually didn't want to go to, but it was because i didn't get my first choice. and this was a local as we could get. The weekly church meeting wasn't interesting, or told me anything, just boredom on a weekly basis, but it was compulsory.
I think they're rather more focussed on religion now, Em. I've seen and heard a few things recently that have truly shocked me. As for Islamic faith schools .... well....
