Have just heard on the news there is a campaign to get rid of lads' mags. There is a call for retailers to remove them or risk being open to legal action. What do you think - are they sexist, pornographic, do they offend you?

The nanny state at large...should be trying to sort out the real problems of this country rather than give this non story air time.
barney - if you click on the link i provided you'll see that this is a group of lawyers who are saying this, not the government nor anyone else in a position of authority.
Gravy train for lawyers!
my apologies bibble, however another issue where some do gooder lawyers (no doubt touting for fresh business), are sticking their snouts into some issue that by and large most people couldnt give a hoot about.
A corner/private shop's income could decrease without these publications.
Do they offend me ? No ! Although some are grotesque . Are they sexist ? Yes possibly, depending on your meaning of the word. .
I think they say more about the pathetic individuals who buy them than their content.

/// I think the Daily Mail is more offensive in the long term. ///

Now there is a really well educated comment!!!!!!!!!!, shall we now ban the Daily Mail?
I suppose in this age of equality it would also be the end for Cosmopolitan ?
I still have my Burt Reynold's centrefold.................
Actually, AOG, jom didn't say either of them should be banned.

And I think I'd probably agree wit him. "Lads mags" do not have anything as nasty as the Mail's contribution to the MMR controversy on their conscience.

if you actually think about it, when last did you see one in an asda, tesco, smiths etc? You don't because they do not sell them. Motorway services have a 'top shelf' still and small newsagents maybe, but the big retailers do not stock them now.
Not bothered.
all our local convenience stores sell them, on display for all to see.
ummm - does a woman demean herself when she poses topless on the beach?

Of course not - but choosing to go topless and avoid tan marks - which is the reason most women do so - is a long way from posing topless in a studio for a fee with a provocative smile, for the titillation of immature young men.
I still don't think it's demeaning. 'Some' men like looking at scantily clad women and the women are getting paid for it. Win win.
some women are exploited by ruthless men, some women are shoved into doing it because they are skint, some women don't always have a choice. I really don't see that many women would make a career choice in porn films, or dirty mags.
I remember the bad old days of Soho and the poor sad women who hung around the place looking for punters, many were drug addicts, it wasn't a nice place, it's improved a bit, but you never know what goes on behind closed doors...
We're not talking about porn mags. It's 'lads mags' there is a massive difference between getting your baps out for a few quid and selling your body for your next fix.
ask yourself this, would you pose for these pictures if you were broke. Knowing that family could well see them... i always think that, they have family, perhaps children, i know i couldn't, wouldn't.
what do you consider lads mags, i look at the stuff they sell in the local shops, and much looks pretty nasty,
